    FoGR are now busy with the winter lunch programme and will host their first annual quiz at the end of November It is a real success story for the FoGR who managed to keep running because a number of volunteers kindly offered their time to help Chief Executive of Leicestershire and Rutland Cricket Wasim Khan MBE said We are very thankful for the continued brilliant work and generosity of the Friends of Grace Road The Friends of Grace Road do a lot of good work all year round including the service they offer on matchdays The club is extremely grateful for the donation which will go towards improving the matchday experience for our Members The Maurice Burrows Stand is an area we are looking to improve and we are pleased to be able to put the donation towards the renovation work It will allow our Members a terrific view of Grace Road Chair of Friends of Grace Road Roy Bent made the donation to Chairman Paul Haywood at Friday s FoGR winter lunch and has the following message to Leicestershire CCC Members and supporters At the start of the 2015 season the Friends of Grace Road seriously considered disbanding as no additional help had been forthcoming despite repeated appeals for volunteers However we decided to give it one more go and offered teas coffees and homemade cakes in the Meet for the season albeit with reduced opening hours We also decided to hold FoGR 50 50 Raffles at T20 games We ve now reviewed the season and we have done phenomenally well We received help during the season from 32 different volunteers most of whom are people with no interest in cricket and who would not normally come to Grace Road for any reason whatsoever Many of those new volunteers have been baking cakes for us and others have been serving those cakes and tea and coffee to members and spectators Others have helped us greatly by selling Raffle tickets around the ground Importantly all of our customers have been excited by the selection and the quality of the homemade cakes available to them and all of our helpers have enjoyed themselves by providing and serving those cakes I d like to say a big thank you to all of our helpers and I hope that they are looking forward to continuing their good work next season Of course we would also welcome more help from anyone who can spare a couple of hours not all the time but every now and again I am very pleased to announce that the 2015 donation from the FoGR to the Club is again 12 000 and we have agreed that this money will be spent on the restoration of the Maurice Burrows Stand on top of the pavilion This stand has long been considered by members as the best view on the ground and it has been greatly missed for far too many years The FoGR is so pleased to see its

    club Leicester born wicket keeper Piper has been working alongside Leicestershire s coaching staff since the start of July 2015 Piper spent 16 years at Warwickshire as a player and was part of their brilliant treble winning side of 1994 He made a career best 116 when Brian Lara was compiling his world record 501 not out against Durham at Edgbaston Piper scored 4 618 first class runs and was a tremendous gloveman taking 504 catches and 36 stumpings in first class cricket He claimed more than 800 dismissals for the county in both formats given he also snapped up 251 List A catches and 53 stumpings After retiring from playing Piper developed coaching experience with Warwickshire as Second XI Coach The 45 year old has also been involved in coaching England s emerging wicket keepers as well as offering support to the national sides of New Zealand and Pakistan de Bruyn was an all rounder who had a 16 year career in the professional game He scored 4 637 first class runs at a healthy average of 37 09 and also took 108 wickets at 29 63 de Bruyn also had a fine List A and T20 record and represented South Africa in the Hong Kong Sixes The 38 year old has most recently worked as Head Coach and Technical Director with TuksCricket the team that represents the University of Pretoria The university has close links to Titans in South Africa a franchise that has AB de Villiers Francois du Plessis and the Morkel brothers on their roster de Bruyn s achievements at TuksCricket has seen six domestic titles won since the start of the 2010 11 season and the team recently represented South Africa again to defend their Red Bull Campus Cricket T20 title in India Currently on the ECB Level 4 programme Pothas had a 19 year professional playing career including a successful nine year playing period for Hampshire CCC The wicket keeper batsman made appearances for the South Africa National Team and his career record included 11 438 first class runs at a tremendous average of 40 85 as well as 659 victims behind the stumps Upon retiring from playing Pothas took up a role with the Guernsey Cricket Board where he became the Channel Islands first Director of Cricket and first full time cricket specific coach The 41 year old has also worked as wicket keeping and batting coach with Sussex CCC at First XI Second XI and Academy level and has experience with the Elite International Cricket Academy which was based at Hampshire s Ageas Bowl Shreck will take on a dual role at Leicestershire County Cricket Club during the 2016 season The 37 year old has been given additional responsibilities as Bowling Development Coach alongside his playing commitments at Grace Road The opportunity will allow Shreck to accelerate his learning in the coaching of first class cricketers while still being a key member of the playing staff Shreck will be assisting in the

    County Cricket Club has announced that Senior Coaches Lloyd Tennant and Ben Smith have left Grace Road following a coaching restructure Tennant s involvement as player and coach at Leicestershire County Cricket Club spanned 29 years The seamer had a seven year spell as a player at Grace Road starting in 1985 also representing England U19s before returning in 1993 as part of the coaching staff He has been at the club ever since and was part of the coaching team for five T20 Finals Days The 47 year old worked in a number of roles at Leicestershire including Bowling Coach Senior Coach and Academy Director and was in charge of the Second XI that won an unprecedented domestic treble in 2014 Tennant worked closely with Stuart Broad in the early part of his career and helped a number of promising young bowlers make good progress including James Ormond Luke Wright Harry Gurney Nathan Buck and Ben Raine Tennant also gained international experience having been part of seven ECB tours in his role as England under 19s bowling coach Two of those tours were World Cups Smith had a 16 year association with Leicestershire County Cricket Club s First XI both as a player and coach After leaving to join Worcestershire at the end of the 2001 season Smith returned as Batting Coach ahead of the 2012 campaign and went on to take a role as Senior Coach The batsman came through the system at Leicestershire and registered 8 606 first class runs for the club including 20 centuries Smith recorded 1 000 runs in a season for Leicestershire on three occasions two of those being the County Championship winning teams of 1996 and 1998 He scored 1 068 runs at 46 43 in 1996 and 1 165 at an
