    rejoining as the Foxes second overseas player for NatWest T20 Blast while O Brien will be available for both the NatWest T20 Blast and Royal London One Day Cup The 25 year old Akmal played matchwinning innings at both Nottinghamshire Outlaws and Birmingham Bears during his first spell at the club His 76 not out at Trent Bridge came off just 49 balls and the Pakistan international s measured unbeaten half century in a fine partnership with Niall O Brien steered the ship home at Edgbaston Akmal scored 133 runs at a strike rate of over 143 in NatWest T20 Blast in being dismissed only once and also made his Leicestershire debuts in first class cricket at Lancashire and in the List A format against the touring New Zealanders The talented batsman wicket keeper has scored 5 259 runs for Pakistan in all three formats of the game and has a career T20 strike rate approaching 130 O Brien has played in 143 T20 games in his career scoring 2 283 runs at a strike rate of 132 80 that has been maintained over 127 innings Also a useful medium fast bowler O Brien needs just 15 wickets to move to the 100 mark in T20 and his economy rate is an impressive 7 25 The 31 year old all rounder is also vastly experienced for his country having represented Ireland 91 times in ODIs and making 45 appearances in T20Is All told O Brien has scored 2 817 runs and has claimed 111 wickets in international matches The Foxes will have plenty of know how in white ball cricket with Akmal and O Brien joined by recent signings Wayne White Neil Dexter and Paul Horton as well as captain Mark Cosgrove overseas bowler Clint McKay and Kevin s brother

    was dominated by two batsmen Wicket keeper Charlie Lowen who has played for Leicestershire Second XI in the past scored 94 not out as Loughborough were bowled out for 179 with two balls of their 40 overs remaining Skipper Matt Craven guided Kibworth to a seven wicket triumph with an unbeaten century his side winning with 16 balls to spare Kibworth went into the last round of league matches requiring five points to secure the league title and managed a maximum 30 point haul against Sileby Town who finished in third Jigar Naik took 2 38 from his ten overs but Josh Peel s 59 helped Kibworth put 188 9 on the board after they had slipped to 47 4 Opening bowlers Matt Bashford 5 23 and Luke Evans 4 15 then wreaked havoc as Sileby were bowled out for 66 Lutterworth were Kibworth s closest rivals throughout the season and they maintained their side of the bargain with a 30 point win against Loughborough Town Lewis Hill 55 Ollie Pickering 54 and Matt Pickering 43 were all in good form as Lutterworth posted 270 8 and Nathan Welham took 3 37 as Loughborough were dismissed for 155 but there was to be no slip up from Kibworth That result meant that Loughborough finished 34 points adrift of fourth placed Barrow Town who ended their fine campaign with a 25 point haul at Kegworth Town Hinckley Town CCA ended in sixth despite suffering defeat at Leicester Ivanhoe The home side have been involved in a lot of close games this season and this encounter also didn t disappoint Ivanhoe made 242 4 as Leicestershire Academy players Sam Evans and Alex Kent scored 62 and 46 respectively while Steve Punchard made 64 not out and Eben Kurtz chipped in with 35

    new contracts Leicestershire County Cricket Club s plans for the 2016 season have been further strengthened as key duo Ned Eckersley and Charlie Shreck have agreed new contracts at Grace Road The club recently secured the signings of Neil Dexter and Paul Horton and Eckersley has signed a two year deal to add further competition for batting positions Shreck has agreed to have his contract extended by a further season Eckersley has scored 4 026 first class runs in his career at a healthy average of 32 73 including ten centuries for Leicestershire He has prospered since moving up to bat at number three in red ball cricket and has made a career best 147 in that position twice against Essex and Glamorgan The 26 year old Eckersley has also made more than 1 200 runs in white ball cricket for the Foxes including a List A best of 108 against Yorkshire and a T20 high of 43 versus Derbyshire Shreck s terrific 2015 season has seen him claim 57 first class wickets at an average of 29 17 and is just one short of taking 100 first class career wickets for Leicestershire The seamer collected his maiden five wicket haul for the club during the LV County Championship win at Essex and that haul took him past 500 career wickets in first class cricket Shreck has also played his part in white ball cricket for the Foxes in the last two seasons taking ten List A wickets at an impressive average of 22 70 and seven T20 wickets at 27 42 Leicestershire and Rutland Cricket Chief Executive Wasim Khan MBE said We are delighted that Ned and Charlie have committed their futures to Leicestershire County Cricket Club We see both players as a key part of the leadership group
