    and a sub committee was formed The museum exhibits known as Discovering Cricket at Grace Road was formally opened in 1996 by the then President Mr B A F Smith In those early days we met and had several meetings with Mr Eric Snow at that time Leicestershire s Historian someone we are indebted to for his knowledge and his diligence in collecting over a number of years a lot of the items we have on display in the Museum We also have to remember Sylvia Michael for all her hard work and dedication in those early days cataloging and recording all the items we have on display and in our store cupboards Unfortunately Sylvia passed away in 2008 and is greatly missed by all at Leicestershire County Cricket Club The exhibition is open throughout the year for both booked visits and ad hoc visits and is also an added attraction to the Club on match days The museum provides a facility for the young and old alike that informs them about the game of cricket its history and particularly Leicestershire County Cricket Club The exhibition has been built around the County Club s extensive collection of cricket memorabilia relevant to the development of cricket in Leicestershire and Rutland The elegant display cases surrounded by wall panels includes historic cricket equipment artefacts photographs and information the evolution of cricket equipment life size figures of some of the personalities of the past and the successful achievements of Leicestershire teams The project also ensures the preservation of cricketing memorabilia which will form part of the Club s history for many years to come We have a policy of changing the specimens on display accordingly to specific themes or to specimens relating to visiting teams the content of the displays will cover topics from a wide range of themes We have to thank our design advisor Rob Ogilvie for his expertise and ideas in bringing our display cases to the high standard you see in the Museum today The history of the game of cricket and its origins including a chronology of key dates and events The history of the cricket grounds in Leicestershire in particular Grace Road The rules of the game and how they evolved including a glossary of terms used within the game The technology and science of the game The colourful personalities both past and present The simple apparel and equipment used in the past compared with the modern sophisticated equipment used today The evolution and construction of modern day cricketing equipment i e balls bats and protective gear The map of fielding positions The successes and achievements of the County sides over the years The collection of historic artefacts of which 85 is Leicestershire connected Recently all the scores since the beginning of the Club s first class history have been put on the internet The Club s photographic history is now also being transferred to the website particularly photographs of past and present players with their biographical

    badge for capped players and scarlet for uncapped players 1965 The Meet made into two floors with 130 foot Long Room upstairs including an excellent dance floor 1966 Purchase of the ground from the corporation Opening of the new Pavilion 200 Club founded 1968 Addition of Long Room for Members which could be turned into indoor nets in the winter Members bar built from what were the Second XI changing rooms Perimeter trees given by Earl of Lanesborough which were later replaced after Dutch Elm disease 1969 New entrance gates at the Park Hill Drive entrance were given by E E Snow and at the Curzon Road entrance by S T Hickling 1971 New entrance gates to Officials and Players entrance in Milligan Road given by the President Bill Bentley 1974 The Cricketers public house was completely rebuilt by Everards 1976 The outfield was completely re seeded 1978 The pavilion was altered and sponsors boxes built 1993 The Indoor Cricket School was built at the Hawkesbury Road end 1996 Mr Peter Freer funded showcases for a Museum and Mr B A F Smith opened it 1997 New drainage installed across the whole playing area 1999 The Media Centre and Championship Lounge were added to the Indoor Cricket School and opened by HRH the Duke of Kent The Hawkes family donated the electronic scoreboard and the first floodlit match took place 2000 Opening of the David Gower Executive Suite Hinckley Cricket Ground was purchased as Second XI ground A fitness centre was added to the Indoor Cricket School 2003 Mr Trevor Bennett had the Curzon Road car park resurfaced with bricks and handsome iron gates installed The Club became an Independent Provident Society with a completely new Board of six Directors 2005 Formation of unique commercial partnership with Investors in Cricket

    Centre Coaching Clinics Friends of Grace Road Members Forum Leicestershire Cricket Society Residents Meetings Commercial Elton John Matchday Hospitality 1879 Club Captain s Club Player Sponsorship Brand Exposure and Advertising Events Tickets Online Booking 2016 Membership 2016 One Day T20 Season Ticket 2016 Charlie Fox Club 2016 David Gower Executive Club 2016 Match Ticket Prices Leicestershire Young Cricketers Educational Trust Leicestershire County Cricket Club has a proud history in developing young cricketers and giving them the opportunity to flourish in the first team With that in mind Leicestershire and Young Cricketers Educational Trust LYCET was set up to benefit our young players by providing funding for coaching in this country as well as playing and being coached at some of the best facilities abroad in the winter LYCET also provides educational scholarships and monies raised helped to replace the indoor school surfaces to provide some of the best facilities for coaching at Grace Road Superb working relationships have been set up over the last few years with the North West Cricket Union based in Potchefstroom South Africa and the Darren Lehmann Academy in Adelaide Australia while a number of fast bowlers have benefitted from working with Dennis Lillee in Chennai India It provides an excellent opportunity for young cricketers to be fast tracked in their learning processes by playing cricket in a variety of conditions The David Wilson Foundation has supported LYCET very generously over the years and recently made another extremely generous donation of 30 000 taking the total donations to over 200 000 Leicestershire and Rutland Cricket Chief Executive Wasim Khan MBE said We would like to thank David for the extremely kind and generous donations from the Foundation to LYCET The money helps to provides invaluable experience for our young cricketers as they start out on their

    Road Members Forum Leicestershire Cricket Society Residents Meetings Commercial Elton John Matchday Hospitality 1879 Club Captain s Club Player Sponsorship Brand Exposure and Advertising Events Tickets Online Booking 2016 Membership 2016 One Day T20 Season Ticket 2016 Charlie Fox Club 2016 David Gower Executive Club 2016 Match Ticket Prices Mike Turner Indoor Cricket Centre We are lucky to possess a fabulous indoor cricket school named the Mike Turner Indoor Cricket Centre after the man who did tremendous work during his long and dedicated career at Leicestershire CCC Dips Patel who is an ECB Level Three Qualified Coach is the new manager of the Mike Turner Indoor Cricket Centre Dips is well known in cricket circles throughout Leicestershire and Rutland for his previous coaching work and through his role as captain of Loughborough Town CC Dips is supported by Les Taylor and Stephen Franklin and other ECB Qualified Coaches Andy Siddall is an ECB Level Four Qualified Coach and Leicestershire CCC first team players also lend a hand at the coaching clinics We offer school holiday clinics group and individual coaching sessions and are also in the process of launching indoor tournaments The group coaching clinics cater for boys and girls aged between 6 and 18 The individual coaching sessions give you either a half hour or an hour session which is one to one with a coach This allows you to develop the specific skills of your choice The cricket centre has three top of the range cricket nets which have been recently resurfaced They are available to hire during evenings and weekends over the winter The complex at the Bennett End of the ground also includes a gymnasium syndicate rooms and lecture theatre as well as the main cricket hall Changing rooms showers viewing gallery bar and social area
