    game at Canterbury earlier this season and are looking to push up the table in the second half of the campaign Leicestershire have played good cricket in the competition but captain Mark Cosgrove who made a century in the equivalent fixture at the St Lawrence Ground said the team needs to be more ruthless in order to put more wins on the board We ve had some good days and bad days in the Championship this season said Cosgrove We re playing good cricket including the last game at Glamorgan but we re letting the odd hour or session ruin our games We played some really good cricket at Kent and had them on the ropes but we couldn t quite get the last couple of wickets Hopefully we can play as well this time finish the job and kick start a good run in four day cricket Leicestershire s bowlers have been in good form including taking 20 wickets in a game on four occasions Cosgrove reserved special praise for Ben Raine who already has 40 first class wickets to his name He said Rainey Ben Raine has been fantastic for us When he came back from New Zealand and we saw him in the nets at the start of the season we knew he could do a really good job for us He s done more than we could have expected so it s been a fantastic effort from him Raine tops the bowling averages with his 38 LV CC victims coming at a cost of just 26 18 apiece and Charlie Shreck has taken the same amount of wickets in the competition Clint McKay is also averaging under 30 with 31 wickets in seven matches at 29 32 and the Australian seamer has also scored 304 runs

    with the news Head Coach Andrew McDonald has agreed a two year contract extension ensures the Foxes will travel up the A1 on a high That point took the Foxes tally to ten from nine matches and means they currently sit in joint second place Durham lost their last outing against Lancashire but are still very much in the mix in a tight north section Raine said Things have been going well for the team in this competition and while I d love to show the Durham fans that I ve made progress since I left all that matters is us picking up the points It s going to be a tough couple of games against top outfits especially with the travelling but we have so much motivation to do well and as we showed against Yorkshire we never give up Raine s captain Mark Cosgrove has praised his contribution to the side ahead of a busy weekend where the Foxes also entertain reigning champions Birmingham Bears on Saturday 2 30pm before hosting Kent in the LV CC on Sunday Cosgrove said It was a great final over from Rainey Ben Raine to get us something out of the game against Yorkshire We didn t really bat well enough to get a point so it could prove to be a vital one for us Rainey s been fantastic for us When he came back from having the winter in New Zealand and we saw him in the nets at the start of the season we knew he could do a really good job for us He s done more than we could have expected so it s been a fantastic effort from him The Foxes face four NatWest T20 Blast games in the space of ten days as well as

    McDonald signs contract extension Leicestershire CCC is delighted to announce that Head Coach Andrew McDonald has agreed a two year extension to his contract at Grace Road McDonald who rejoined the club last winter after a highly successful spell as player at Grace Road in 2010 and 2011 will remain at Leicestershire CCC until at least the end of the 2017 campaign The club has taken massive strides forward under McDonald s leadership during the 2015 season with improved performances in the LV CC combined with a terrific start to the NatWest T20 Blast tournament The Foxes currently sit in third place with ten points from nine games in a T20 campaign that has seen them land terrific away wins at Nottinghamshire Outlaws and Birmingham Bears as well as maintaining an unbeaten home record McDonald said It s been great to be back at Leicestershire County Cricket Club in my new role and I m really looking forward to continuing to shape the future of the club over the coming seasons The support I ve received from everybody has been fantastic We have played some good cricket in the LV County Championship and with a bit more consistency and taking our chances in the field we would have had some more wins We have also started well in NatWest T20 Blast and are looking to keep our good form going in that competition We know there is still plenty of work to do but the players and backroom staff are all giving everything they can and we will all continue to work extremely hard to ensure that the club has success Leicestershire and Rutland Cricket Chief Executive Wasim Khan MBE said I am absolutely delighted that Andrew has signed a contract extension with us We have made massive strides forward

    News 30th June 2015 Lutterworth close the gap Lutterworth opened up the Leicestershire and Rutland Premier League title race after a superb 13 run win against Kibworth Craig Wilson 39 and captain Ollie Pickering 36 top scored as Lutterworth put 189 9 on the board Kibworth spin trio Russell Spiers 10 4 18 0 Darren Shaw 6 0 22 2 and Aadil Ali 9 1 44 2 put the brakes on throughout the innings Lutterworth claimed the key wickets of Matt Craven and Ali and although Sunny Patel scored 67 and there was a last wicket stand worth 23 Kibworth were bowled out for 176 with 4 1 overs to go The result moves Lutterworth into second place six points behind Kibworth while Sileby moved up into third as Barrow Town lost at Rothley Park Hamzah Khan scored 68 as Rothley posted 243 and Ali Azmat 5 16 and Charles Dagnall 3 38 did the damage as Barrow were bowled out for 183 Sileby Town were denied victory but collected 20 points from a winning draw against Market Harborough to move up to third The home side posted 264 8 thanks in large to 83 from opener Luke Gale Harborough closed on 214 9 as Fin Clarke made a half century and Kevin Innes 48 and Max Collins 47 getting close to landmarks Collins along with brother Ben batted out the final seven overs to secure ten points In form Loughborough Town are up to fifth after amassing 341 8 in their home match against Leicester Ivanhoe Shyam Patel 94 and Ronaka Ahangamage 84 were in good form and off spinner Nil Patel claimed a four wicket haul as Ivanhoe were bowled out for 210 Matt Twigg scored 48 and Leicestershire Academy player Alex Kent 43 played well for Ivanhoe
