2016 One Day T20 Season Ticket 2016 Charlie Fox Club 2016 David Gower Executive Club 2016 Match Ticket Prices LCCC Interviews 31st May 2015 Raine The whole team bowled well Audio interviews are available here with Ben Raine and debutant Andrea Agathangelou courtesy of BBC Radio Leicester s Richard Rae Thanks to Paul Hiscock from the Press Association for his work today too Leicestershire bowler Ben Raine moved to 21 LV CC wickets for the season by picking up a career best 5 48 against Essex today The 23 year old has not always had the greatest of fortune this season but this was Raine s day with his movement and bounce causing the home side s strong batting line up all sorts of problems With Clint McKay and Charlie Shreck each having 22 victims to their name Leicestershire s seam trio have had a strong start to the season with all three being in the top ten wicket takers in the division He said I haven t had many 5 fors in my life to be honest coming from a batting background So it s nice to get my first one for Leicestershire and I hope that it s the first of many I d roll that pitch up and take it with me everywhere I went if I could This morning the constant drizzle kept that bit of life in it although in the afternoon it got a bit better to bat on It was a very good performance from all of the bowlers Sometimes you don t get the wickets that you deserve as an individual but if you look at the work that the unit does it works out I was the one to get the wickets today but next time it will be Shrecky Charlie

starting at Headingley on Friday Raine spent last winter in New Zealand and also got to know Tom Latham and Matt Henry during his time there The 23 year old said he was pleased to see all four players perform well including Stokes who he calls an exceptional talent He said I spent a lot of time in New Zealand this winter and it was strange to watch the test match in some ways as four of my close friends played including Mark Wood and Matt Henry who were making their test match debuts for opposite teams All four had good games including Tom Latham who got a 50 in the first innings Ben Stokes showed exactly what he is capable of He is an exceptional batsman I d say he s the best I have ever played with He s very useful as a bowler and a proven wicket taker but his main strength is batting and he proved that beyond end in this test It s nice to see Ben doing well as he s an exceptional talent He is going to be a great player Raine said that although it is always weird to take on your former side it will be business as usual as the Foxes look to make it back to back wins against Durham Jets tomorrow and Worcestershire Rapids at New Road on Friday 5 30pm He said I ve still got a lot of friends at Durham and it s always interesting to play against your old team but we got two wins against them last year in two good games of cricket They have a lot of good players and they re a team that doesn t change a lot There are still people there from when I was at Durham

when the Foxes face local rivals Derbyshire Falcons in the NatWest T20 Blast on Thursday The club have already sold more than 4 500 tickets for the game and with good weather forecast Grace Road is going to be close to full generating the kind of atmosphere which inspires exceptional performances Those sort of numbers in Grace Road sound like 10 000 plus in some of the bigger grounds and we ll be aiming to put on a seriously good show for them said the Australian who has only previously experienced matches in the T20 south group Having lost a last ball thriller against Lancashire at Old Trafford in their opening fixture and been unfortunate in the timing of a rain break in the middle of building what looked as though it was going to be a formidable total Cosgrove believes the Foxes have already shown they will be a force in the short form of the game this season We played a really good game at Old Trafford last Friday the rain stifled us a little bit but even then we almost made it over the line so with a big crowd behind us against Derby we ll be looking to win and take that momentum into next week and the rest of the season he said New Zealand World Cup star Grant Elliott plays at Grace Road for the first time as does exciting Ireland international Kevin O Brien Both made useful contributions against Lancashire with O Brien hitting two sixes in scoring 47 from just 27 balls Grant and Kevin are big game players they give us something different and we just need to polish our game a little bit to be right in there said Cosgrove The match against Derbyshire will be preceded by a Varsity

resistance for the best part of four and a half hours The team battled for 161 1 overs in their second innings which was a terrific effort in the circumstances but it wasn t to be An epic 355 not out from Kevin Pietersen six wickets from Zafar Ansari and an astonishing last session run chase led by openers Jason Roy and Steven Davies saw the home side over the line McDonald said There was a lot of fight from the players over the last couple of days of the game and a lot of them batted for a good amount of time Every batsman set out to occupy the crease and in the end we just fell short But the players gave everything and all I will say is that we have got to start winning the key moments in games We don t want to be an almost team We want to take the next step and deliver The Lancashire game will be the second meeting of the sides inside three days after they locked horns in NatWest T20 Blast at Emirates Old Trafford last night Lancashire edged home off the last ball in what was a tremendous game of cricket so everything is set for a good game at Grace Road Ned Eckersley is Leicestershire s leading run scorer in the LV CC with 450 at an impressive average of 56 25 and he has scored 2 543 Championship runs since the start of the 2013 season Only James Vince has scored more in Division Two in that time Angus Robson 299 at 37 37 Mark Cosgrove 291 at 41 57 and Niall O Brien 231 at 57 5 have also been in excellent good form while Lewis Hill made a first class century in just his

few new faces so he feels that the Foxes will benefit from focusing on performance and their brand of cricket from the outset I ve always found in the competition in New Zealand that a couple of wins early doors can be key because it allows you to have confidence to play with more freedom rather than chasing points said Elliott You can afford to go out all guns blazing if you get an early win or two as opposed to being a team that is searching for a result But it s important that we re not totally result driven and that we develop a brand of cricket that is irrespective of the opposition and situations that we find ourselves in If we can play an exciting brand of cricket and back ourselves from the outset it will stand us in good stead Lancashire is a county with a lot of tradition and they are a very proud side It will be very tough to face them first up away from home but we have to look at taking on last year s finalists on a test match ground as an exciting challenge It s about making sure we get the combinations right early on as I think we have a few guys that can take the game away from the opposition on our day Lancashire is a good test for us to start with and we re looking forward to it Elliott is excited to be part of the Foxes plans this summer and although he will be new to the changing room there are a few familiar faces around that have helped him to settle in quickly He said There has been a lot of change at Leicestershire County Cricket Club and these are exciting times for

maybe should have been a matchwinning effort All of the bowlers bowled tight lines and created pressure on the Kent batsmen Everyone played the game pretty well and we re really pleased with where we are The way we played in this game and the first two the win is not far away Surrey are a good side and are one of the favourites for promotion but they are in Division Two like everyone else So if we can go there and put them under pressure and play like we did in this game we ll be fine We need to keep focusing on our own performances and putting teams under pressure and not worry too much about the opposition Ned Eckersley 284 Cosgrove 247 and Angus Robson 238 are Leicestershire s leading scorers in the competition while Shreck 16 McKay 13 and Ben Raine 10 are all in double figures in terms of wickets McKay 6 54 collected County s best figures since Robbie Joseph took 6 47 against Glamorgan in the first game of the 2012 season Shreck has taken two four wicket hauls both of which were best returns for the club and Raine took a career best 4 55 against Northants For Surrey batsman Steve Davies is enjoying a terrific start to the season and his 302 runs have come at an average of 151 00 Sri Lanka batsman Kumar Sangakkara is just 16 runs shy of the 300 run mark The South London based county have found wickets harder to come by and Zafir Ansari is the leading wicket taker after two games with five victims Cosgrove has been pleased with the contributions throughout the team and happy to post his first century this week He said If you look through the team everyone is
