    Frieth on 5th March 2011 There will be a three course meal entertaining all evening with an opportunity to solve who dunnit Tickets will be 30 Welcome to the Lindsay Dawkes Fund for Musical Development website The Fund is a registered Charity No 1128550 It aims to provide musical instruments for a wide range of projects involving children in local education Established in the Summer of 2007 by family and friends of Lindsay the Fund s sole aim is to raise money to aid musical development The opportunity for children to experience and enjoy instrumental music was a major factor in Lindsay s life and work We wish to carry on this good work and provide instrumental music to many youngsters in local education Throughout 2007 and 2008 there will be fund raising events of various types taking place please keep visiting the website for specific details This will culminate in a focal event taking place early in the Summer of 2008 With money raised from the events the Fund will be able to supply musical instruments to local education projects The aim will be to provide instruments for youngsters to experience and enjoy all the aspects music making has

    dunnit Tickets will be 30 Lindsay was born in Hayes Middlesex on 9th July 1951 His father Jack was a self taught professional musician and when Lindsay was 15 they moved to Ickenham Because of Jack s failing hearing he started repairing instruments from the garden shed I believe Lindsay s love of instruments began in those days of helping his dad However his first instrument was not brass or woodwind but percussion He took up drums and joined a group called Mustn t Grumble and later The Ritz which spanned most of the 70 s During this time Jack and he opened a shop in Uxbridge selling most instruments to start with then specialising in brass and woodwind As well as helping to run an increasingly successful business he was also the father of four sons and in 1983 helped to form a jazz funk band called Wacking Funkers where he played saxophone and flute As the pressure of business became greater the less he had time to play and in 1990 the shop was relocated to Maidenhead The family had moved to High Wycombe several years before that where Lindsay joined the local Round Table making many new
