  • Litro #125: Germany - Letter from the Editor
s The Fall of Berlin Oil on Canvas the narrator recounts a tale of despair and deception the consequences of which reach from the past to the present Love by the Wall by Robin Wyatt Dunn offers us a slightly different view of Berlin regrets already forming in the city s marshy foundations and Pippa Anais Gaubert s Berlin Ghost Story finds the narrator literally becoming a ghost a condition which gives her a way to relieve the pain of reality but one for which there is sadly no cure Although only the one mentions it explicitly in many respects all of this month s stories are ghost stories But while Germany may have a haunted past it s the way these stories confront it the frisson of tragedy that runs through each of them that makes them so compelling Viel Vergnügen Andrew Lloyd Jones Editor May 2013 About Andrew Lloyd Jones Andrew joined Litro as Magazine Editor in November 2012 He was born in London England and grew up in Anchorage Alaska He is a co founder of the monthly live fiction reading event Liars League and currently hosts Liars League NYC its New York offshoot He won the Fish Prize with his story Feathers and Cigarettes and his short fiction has featured in the Tales of the Decongested anthologies in the Canongate collection Original Sins in the Pulp net anthology Down the Angel and in a Bridport Prize anthology Andrew lives and writes in New York Mail More Posts 8 Comments comments Prev Schwellenangst Next Blühende Landschaften Related Posts Germany Style Litro 138 Horror Letter from the Editor New States Litro TV Recent Posts Bringing Up Baby In the Night Time Before the Sun Rises at the Gate Theatre True Love in Los Angeles A R BY ANY OTHER NAME The Echo Travelling in Fiji The Litro Blog View Archive 11th February 2016 Litro 149 The Love issue Letter from the Editor By Eric Akoto Love we spend our lives craving it in one form or another searching for it and talking about it Its meaning is felt more than it is clearly expressed Some call it the greatest virtue Continue reading 9th December 2015 Litro 148 The Going Home issue Letter from the Editor By Eric Akoto This month in Litro 148 we explore the notion of what Going Home means to us Is it a familiar physical space A refuge A feeling A state of mind Or is home actually to be found in another human being maybe your partner your parents How do you know when you have found it Continue reading Contact Us General 44 0 20 3371 9971 info litro co uk Sales Advertising enquiries 44 0 20 3371 9971 Email Sales Magazine Editorial editor litro co uk All Online Editorial online litro co uk Book Reviews Author Interviews reviews litro co uk Film Arts Editorial arts litro co uk Litro Lab Podcast litrolab litro co uk LitroTV litrotv litro co uk Litro

the Editor by Andrew Lloyd Jones Willkommen At the helm of European policy champion of the Euro home of the largest economy in the union Germany would appear to be one of Europe s biggest success stories its eyes fixed firmly on a brighter stable future for the continent But the submissions to this month s issue of Litro would seem to tell a different story The Germany they describe is haunted by its past Read more Letters from the Editor Litro 124 Transgression Litro 124 Transgression Letter from the Editor by Andrew Lloyd Jones Welcome to Issue 124 of Litro It s difficult to define what we mean by transgression That s partly because transgression is a relative term there are some acts and ideas an individual might call transgressions while society might have a totally different opinion on the matter And then even those opinions aren t concrete because what we or society might call transgressions don t always stand the test of time Read more Letters from the Editor Litro 123 Mystery Litro 123 Mystery Letter from the Editor by Andrew Lloyd Jones Mysteries are quantum events occurring but only existing for a time until they are resolved and disappear Those gaps appear literally too as dark spaces shadowy alleyways between buildings secret gardens misfiring amygdalae in amnesia victims Read more Letters from the Editor Litro 121 Magic Litro 121 Magic Letter from the Editor by Andrew Lloyd Jones According to Arthur C Clarke any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic And by that token these days we re surrounded by the mystical from particle accelerators underground to the smartphone in your pocket Read more Letters from the Editor Litro 120 Africa Litro 120 Africa Letter from the Editor by Andrew Lloyd Jones How much do you know about Africa We tend to speak of it as though it s one giant inscrutable territory and yet Africa contains 54 different countries all with different cultures geographies and people amongst which are some of the world s fastest growing economies For many of us the only time Africa appears on our radar is when it s in the news Somali Pirates KONY 2012 Darfur email scammers the World Cup Most of our references are sadly negative Read more Andrew Lloyd Jones The author has 8 posts published in Litro Magazine Andrew joined Litro as Magazine Editor in November 2012 He was born in London England and grew up in Anchorage Alaska He is a co founder of the monthly live fiction reading event Liars League and currently hosts Liars League NYC its New York offshoot He won the Fish Prize with his story Feathers and Cigarettes and his short fiction has featured in the Tales of the Decongested anthologies in the Canongate collection Original Sins in the Pulp net anthology Down the Angel and in a Bridport Prize anthology Andrew lives and writes in New York Website Twitter Facebook Contact Us General 44 0 20 3371 9971
