  • Mayhem at Wicksteed - May 28, 29 2011
Chingdevil Stavros And of course the irrepressible SteamboatPhil It does make me realise how much of his own personal money Martin has spent over the years putting on this event The sponsorship was due to be private and from our own pockets but as previously said as Martin outed me it was only fair to mention it was a TEAM effort Bob Logged PFC down but not out Colin Bishop Full Mayhemer ensuring that the weekend went ahead As the Mayhem gathering gives so many people a lot of pleasure maybe next year we should consider allowing people to make voluntary donations at the event so that the cost does not fall on Martin and a few individuals I for one would be very happy to put a fiver or so in the box and if most people did the same I m sure that a good proportion of the costs would be covered Best to keep it as a voluntary charge so that people can give what they can afford Colin Logged Ghost in the shell Full Mayhemer Offline Posts 2 482 Go Nuclear you ll love it Re Mayhem at reason at all why the burden of expense should fall onto Martin alone The sheer value of the laughs and information we all derive from this Forum is surely worth one quid each Come on Folks give it thinking off today Did he think it was a destruction derby Alonso and Button did really well keeping up with Vettel till the end On the whole the best Monaco Grand Prix for many years The new tyres have made a huge difference to the sport Oh and I went to the Mayhem at Wicksteed Weekend soon to be renamed Tornado Valley Well no rain today but it was a tad gusty and changeable by the minute It was free sail again today and it was interesting to see the inter turmoil on some modellers faces as they agonised whether to risk putting their model in the bubbling turmoil water Apparently 10 salvages and sinking over the weekend including my own Mexican hat Logged This is my firm opinion but what do I know Mayhem FaceBook Group nhp651 Guest Re Mayhem at Wicksteed May 28 29 2011 Reply 540 • Paddler Day - September 2008
ran smoothly throughout the day Far too many people to name individually and even if I did I d be certain to miss someone and cause offence Bit two none club members do deserve a mention namely Sue and Nicola who made sure everyone was fed and watered throughout the day Thank you ladies The day was designed to be as light hearted as possible with no competitions or anything like that Just a day for people who love paddlers to get together and have a pleasant days sailing with likeminded people A few buoys had been laid out to give something to steer around but that was about as close as it got to any sort of competition Fortunately the weather was glorious Fine dry and warm with just a very light breeze Perfect paddler weather Everyone got on extremely well and the range of paddler conversation was unbelievable But with guests from England Scotland Germany and Switzerland and models of Scottish English American German French Australian African and Swiss paddlers there was certainly something to interest most people Everyone I spoke to said that they enjoyed the day so we must have got something right But of course we re always open to suggestions when it comes to improving future shows During the day everyone was given a voting slip to vote for what they considered The best model on the water This was extremely closely contested and only one vote separated no less than four different models At 4pm Ian Archibald our club secretary made the presentation The trophy a book and a DVD was won by Sandy Thomson of Tynemouth MBC for his superb model of the Jeanie Deans A second prize for Best steam powered model on the water was won by Peter Massey for
