to and use the same systems as any other employees Or it s not such a good thing as they are not used to the way things work and may not like being told what to do and how to do it They may have their own ideas on how something should be done and try to change your systems and therefore potentially upset the apple cart with any existing employees Behaviour some employers have been known to actually have to ask the apprentice to leave due to their behaviour or lack of professionalism Obviously this is not all apprentices and most are very polite and conscientious Although these few can give the scheme a bad name that s not to say you shouldn t try it Even those employees who have suffered a bad apple have gone on to take on other apprentices with great success And even offer them permanent employment once the contract ends Social Social benefits such as reducing unemployment in your local area and also inspiring a future generation of business owners by passing on entrepreneurial skills and experience can be a great reason for taking on an apprentice Obviously it won t make much of a dent on the current 1 8 million unemployed in the UK But it does show that you care to your current and future employees and to your customers Funding an employer that hasn t taken on an apprentice in the last year may be eligible to receive a grant of 1 500 But there a few hoops to jump through to gain access to the grant no surprise there So there you go a few things to think about before making the decision to take on an apprentice I would be interested to know what you think Tags

needs and could add value to your organisation don t delay offer them a job because if you don t someone else will The second phrase for me relates to situations when you are not 100 percent sure about the applicant and if it is more of a bum on a seat In these cases I would suggest you proceed with caution I know there are probationary periods and you can dismiss relatively safely with less than 2 years service but that can have a negative impact on the rest of the team ultimately your business Obviously this is only my opinion so I thought it might be useful to get the opinion of a young person that is currently looking for a job So here is the opinion of Josh my 20 year old nephew Carpe Diem When looking for a job especially as a young person many problems and obstacles can block your path One that I found was the constant struggle for money to do the things you like which for me personally became my biggest motivation These obstacles may agitate you now but once you ve made some progress and get your feet on the ladder so to speak you ll soon find they aren t worth worrying about at all There are various options you can use to find employment the actual matter is finding the one that is more suited to you You can do anything from looking on websites to even browsing the local shops windows to see if there are any vacancies available My biggest problem was finding the motivation to actually do something about it When you look at all these famous celebrities and corporate business owners you have to realize that they didn t just sit around and wait for it to happen They worked hard and achieved their goals As it stands now the current youth un employment rate for the youth in England is 14 4 that is staggering I believe one of the main causes of this is people are not using their full potential to locate something that is best fitting for them anybody can jump on a phone or behind a computer but is that something you will actually enjoy doing 5 days a week potentially Even if it s not full time work I believe personally the best way to achieve a good work ethic is to enjoy the job you re doing That means you shouldn t be restricted to any one choice of jobs Use various opportunities to enter the working world and keep at it Don t just jump into any old job stick at it for 2 3 weeks get fed up and leave To make it anywhere in life you have to keep to the tasks put before you and you will reap the rewards graciously Seize the day and don t take any opportunity for granted for in life there is never a failure it is always a
