  • Curved Roman Blinds successfully installed on Couach SY Belonger | Oceanair
series Oceanair collaborated with both Couach and the Owner s wife on the interior design working to supply the vessel with high quality blind solutions Challenges SY Belonger featured a number of beautifully curved windows each of which required a series of powered Roman blinds installed The curvature posed numerous challenges for Oceanair s in house Design Team firstly they had to fit a typically straight head rail into a curved aperture and secondly design Roman blinds tailored to the differing window shapes and sizes Furthermore the inherent horizontal folds of a Roman blind would not allow the fabric to naturally follow the unique curve of the aperture A structure would therefore be needed to resolve this but one that would not detract from the soft and luxurious feel that the client required Solutions Accommodating Lutron motors the head rails were fitted with a unique motorised pulley mechanism This enabled the installation of motorised head rails within each curved aperture whilst permitting its control across the entire width of the blind Discrete rods were also inserted horizontally within the blind ensuring that the fabric seamlessly followed the curvature of each window For a flawless finish heavy creasing created by the gradient hard pleats were addressed with a custom designed weighting system Inserted along the folds of each pleat these weights resulted in a smooth and elegant finish Both sheer and blackout versions of the blind were fitted within the same recess providing the owner with ultimate control of natural light filtering with both privacy and complete blackout options available at the touch of a button We were able to work with customer supplied fabrics on this occasion ensuring the client received all that they needed for the interior design vision Oceanair were proud to take ownership of this project from

  • CHOOSING BLINDS FOR SUPERYACHTS - 5 STEPS IN 5 DAYS - PART 1 | Oceanair
08 2015 21 26 In the first of 5 posts this week we ve asked our in house expert Tom Pickles Superyacht Business Manager for his design advice when it comes to selecting blinds for use on superyachts These boats often have different requirements when it comes to space use and interior design that don t necessarily apply on smaller boats Here is the first step of fantastic guidance Always consider the depth of a recess Do you have the space for all the blinds in a window box that you want without constriction Windows on superyachts usually have two or more different window treatments in them for example a Venetian blind with roller blinds or SKYVIEW with a Roman blind on top There is nothing worse than ignoring space considerations and having fabrics spilling from recesses To help with this talk to us about our new compact Universal Headrail supporting both Lutron and Somfy motors Furthermore we run a Design Support Initiative to provide technical layout drawings to fit in with your overall designs Planning and visualising If possible always plan in a mock up to the project to get a full feel of the light transmission levels and feel generated by the blinds This will also help understand track spacing sizing and if the effect of the chosen blind combination is correct for your client If possible put the mock up directly on to the window of the yacht even if no other interior is present Make sure you check in tomorrow for the next instalment In the meantime get in touch with Tom our Super Yacht Business Manager to discuss your project Tel 44 0 1243 606909 Email tomp at oceanair co uk Categories Blog posts Product news Care Advice Categories Blog posts Boat Shows Exhibitions Care
