  • Oceanair's 2015 distributor training seminar | Oceanair
    additions to the Oceanair portfolio Sales and Marketing Director Ian Howarth showcased the new SKYSOL Precision SKYSOL Motion SKYSOL Mini and SKYVENETIAN Alloy Precision blinds which all proved to be incredibly popular additions with samples in high demand from the market These new products have been cost engineered to provide a greater range of price points as well as offering more streamlined aesthetic whilst retaining a sleek design with fewer components An important design feature of both the SKYSOL Mini and SKYSOL Precision is the absence of guide wires meaning they are child safe Both also have a unique inbuilt friction mechanism allowing the blind to be deployed and positioned at any height Also new and showcased in the experience centre is the SKYVENETIAN Leather Alloy both unique and beautiful combining stunning leather finishes with precision engineering that Oceanair is famous for The thin curved slat design manufactured from lightweight aluminium means that the stack height of the blind is reduced making the blind easier to conceal into a recess The Distributor training event was a great opportunity for networking and the Oceanair team along with the delegates enjoyed great hospitality at a dinner event on Monday night including a quiz night testing both product knowledge and musical ability Before long it was time for the delegates to head home with ideas and inspiration as well as an increased understanding of the Oceanair range Our seminars were carefully designed to pass on innovative ideas and design options as well as demonstrate our dedication and commitment to our distributors We had the largest amount of delegates on site at one time than ever before thanks to the new Experience Centre Susana Pope Business Unit Manager Soft Furnishings Division It was fantastic to see so many of our distributors attending our training event Seeing them all motivated and now freshly up to date with our new product developments makes us look forward to a great season all the more Bjorn Rump Territory Sales Manager The practical sessions on SMOD were a great success now that most distributors have been using it for at least a year We received some great feedback during this seminar on this software The lessons learnt will help Oceanair take the program to the next level and complete programming changes that will add a new layer of intelligence to help quick efficient quoting and detailed specification of SKYSOL blinds Tom Pickles Superyacht Business Manager Thank you for the wonderful presentations and hospitality Charis Merkaths Nautilus Yacht Equipment Greece The seminar was a great success and the new Experience Centre is fantastic Andy Smith IMP UK The 2015 training seminar was great It shows that there is always something to gain from attending these events from new products to the finer details associated within the current product range Ian Coward Central Boating South Africa The recently held distributor seminar was effectively managed to reinforce awareness of the company s capabilities and was effective on passing on product knowledge to

    feel very lucky to have received training and development to allow for my career progression I have progressed from a territory sales assistant role to being training officer a senior part of the project management team and in September 2014 I was promoted to Superyacht Business Manager Undoubtedly the best part of my job is the people that I get to work with and the people I meet To deliver the quality products that Oceanair designs manufactures and distributes requires collaboration on all levels from management to the factory floor Likewise when meeting customers I really enjoy meeting designers and architects and getting a glimpse into future yacht design Visiting interior contractors and seeing the professional methods used in design as well as seeing the grandeur of the projects that Oceanair is involved in makes me very proud My current role working with superyachts shows me how much Oceanair has grown in both size and capability in the ten years I have been working here and it is a real pleasure to be part of it and to have grown with the company One of my favourite parts over the last ten years was a 3 month secondment to our US office to support a changeover period This tested all my abilities technical capabilities and management skills This was a fantastic opportunity growing personal expertise and showed the management team s faith in me I have been a keen sailor since I was very young and I have been lucky to be able to incorporate this into my work It makes me passionate about my work and gives me a natural understanding of the marine environment which is important when making blinds to withstand life on boats I take a keen interest in every part of my work from keeping

    scale Below Marisa gives her expert guidance on all things Passementerie giving special consideration to the marine environment and some design advice for the season ahead WHAT WOULD BE YOUR 3 PIECES OF ADVICE THAT NEED TO BE CONSIDERED WHEN CHOOSING PASSEMENTERIE Marisa When recommending passementerie to designers my advice can be boiled down to one question The first thing I urge them to think about is What is the intention In other words do you want trimmings to draw your eye to a focal point through bold patterning or contrasting colors Or should trim recede by harmonizing with the fabrics it s paired with Is it meant purely as a means of embellishment or is it functional And is the selected style pattern color and fiber well suited for the fabric and furniture selections YACHT CABINS CAN OFTEN BE ON THE SMALLER SIDE COMPARED TO BUILDINGS HOW CAN YOU USE PASSEMENTERIE TO HELP CREATE LIGHT AND SPACE Marisa First one must begin with a lighter color palette and use trimmings to deliberately delineate lines within the space you want to emphasize This gives designers the ability to create more depth within the space Incorporating trimmings with inherently reflective surfaces such as crystal and glass will also help to pick up light and cascade it around different parts of the room YOU USE INCREDIBLY DIVERSE MATERIALS SUCH AS SILK WOOL GRASS WOOD AND EVEN GLASS IN YOUR TRIMMINGS WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO SOMEONE CHOOSING MATERIALS FOR THE MARINE ENVIRONMENT WHERE THEY CAN BE EXPOSED TO INCREASED HEAT UV WIND AND SALT Marisa For areas which are exposed to the elements it s best to use either solution dyed acrylic trimmings or leather WHAT IS ON TREND THIS SEASON Marisa For yachts the ocean itself creates a magnificent landscape

    2016 13 32 Oceanair s seasonal recycle challenge The highly creative team over at Oceanair US devised a fantastic challenge last month to celebrate the festive season and practise the green manufacturing of Christmas decorations Featured in the range of decorations were metalwork shavings fabrics shipping foam venetian slats cardboard and even some portshades 11 skilled employees put their creativity to the test and the UK office and factory cast their votes for the best piece Groups were brought in to choose over the course of 2 days After much deliberation here are the results Drum roll please In 3rd place The Christmas Wreath In 2nd place The Snowy Village And the WINNER IS The Festive Fireplace With such hard work and attention to detail the maker of the festive fireplace made every inch from scratch The stockings mantelpiece decorations and fireplace itself were all hand crafted Well done to the lucky Winner The OA UK staff even put a little something together to show their appericiation Thank you to all participants after much positive response from the Oceanair staff it looks like we can look forward to more of this next year Categories Blog posts Boat Shows Exhibitions Care

    the best possible fit take time to measure your window carefully with our simple step by step guide We recommend using a metal tape measure for accuracy For a blind that will hang inside the window recess 1 Ensure the recess is suitable checking that the blind will not be obstructed when extended Also ensure the recess is at least 75mm deep to accommodate the operating mechanism Using a metal tape measure measure the total width from A to B see diagram below and the length from C to D in millimetres Do this in several places as recess irregularities are common Note the narrowest of measurements For a blind that will hang outside the window 1 Decide how far you want the fabric to overlap on all sides we recommend this should be at least 45mm Using a metal tape measure measure from E to F see diagram below in millimetres If you are fitting a roller blind you need to add a further 38mm to this total to allow for the operating mechanism Then measure from G to H H being the drop length you require Categories Blog posts Care Advice Categories Blog posts Boat Shows Exhibitions Care
