curtains one set is standard shape and the other is for an apex window door Unusually shaped windows require unusually shaped curtains Apex windows have an unusual appearance The top of the window extends up on both sides to a point at the centre Curtains for apex windows must be made with the same shape to prevent hiding the Italian style window frame Window coverings add charm and elegance to any room but nothing beats a gorgeous window treatment over a stylish apex window In this case the apex was fairly sizeable too measuring 3 5m long from the top centre point down to the ground Our customer had already specified and supplied a fabric chosen specifically to match the room s existing interior The fabric features vertical stripes which posed an extra challenge for the sewing team as they had to take the upmost care to ensure the stripes are shown off in the best way in the curtain pleating When it came to deciding the best way to hang the curtains the stripes and the apex window were the main considerations The sloping angles mean the fabric needed to be carefully cut so the striped fabric was displayed correctly A pinch pleat was decided upon as the best method to use as the curtains would have the pleats stitched in them so the fabric stays dressed in its striped folds better and will hang from the apex correctly The team had to custom make a pattern to follow for this and the results now ensure that each pinch pleat is horizontal at its top whilst maintaining a neat angle along the angled apex side of the curtain A challenging yet fun brief the Soft Furnishing team yet again delivered perfect results Below are some further pictures of the

no recess space for any blind fittings and housings to be used Luckily working with small recesses is one of Oceanair s fortes due to 25 years experience in the marine industry with yachts and motor boats where space is at a premium We were able to offer an effective solution which still gave the customer a large range of options when it came to personalising and choosing colours as well as discrete blind solution that fitted in to the recess space that was available To resolve the issue we made custom fabric screens that are simply placed onto the windows and discretely fastened without the need for any blind head rails or hold downs These screens were made using a special new composite fabric where the composite is kept under tension throughout the manufacturing process The benefits of this include a fabric screen that is very thin good for installing in small recesses has exceptional long term strength and durability along with sustained flatness meaning there is no deformation during installation or with use Our particular customer used the screens for internal use but they are in fact also suited for external use demonstrating their weather and UV resistance The fabric comes in multiple colour options so customers can fully personalise their home as screen colours can be chosen for use in any room in the house As with all Oceanair blinds and shades these fabric screens offer transparency without glare creating appropriate levels of light transmission in a room Furthermore the screens offer greater thermal protection which better regulates heat within the room this is good for the environment as it can help decrease a customer s energy costs through turning off the air con or turning down the heating depending on the season and climate It is
