dish You can re use this dye another time by re heating The bag is also dyed and can he used for machine embroidery whatever Dyrect Dyes Needing only heat and salt these dyes can be used in a pan microwave or washing machine They come in 14 glorious colours and are suitable for all cellulose fabrics such as cotton linen viscose rayon raffia and paper They will also colour well washed wool e g blanket in the washing machine Using Direct Hot Water Dyes This is a wonderful dye range of 14 intermixable colours for all cellulose or vegetable fibres which also includes viscose and rayon which are vegetable based They are simple to use just requiring the addition of salt then heat to fix the colour Just measure the chosen dye and salt following the instruction sheet place in a dye bath heat and enter the wetted fibre fabric stir and dye for required time These can also be used in the microwave for dyeing small quantities Use the plastic glass container kept specially for dyeing and a microwave roast bag these dyes don t dye the bag so easily add the wetted fibre and a small amount of water add the dye and salt close the bag Squeeze the contents to mix together and microwave for 6 minutes I prefer two lots of 3 minutes stirring contents in between goes The dyes can used in many other ways as described in the instruction leaflet which you ll receive with your first order Reactive Plus Dyes These are cold water fibre reactive or Procion type dyes which have the salt bound in to the crystals making them extremely easy to use They just need soda to fix them either as soda ash or washing soda The 8 vivid colours can be used on silk cotton linen viscose rayon and paper Manutex can be added to thicken the dye to print or stencil with etc Using Reactive Dyes These are the cold water range of fibre reactive dye Procion which have been mixed with salt which stabilizes them so that they are not so fly away and therefore not so harmful They react with the Soda ash when it is added to the compound of dye and salt which then fixes the dye onto the fibre fabric Traditionally the dye bath is made up of water dye crystals including salt and soda ash add the wetted fibre fabric stir and leave for 2 hours stirring occasionally Once the soda ash is mixed into the dye bath the bath is only active for up to 3 hours so dyeing should take place immediately The dye residue cannot be used again without the addition of more soda ash to reactivate it when required You can pre treat your fabrics in a soda ash bath do not rinse Place fabric in a tray make up dye solutions in spray bottles and spray over fabric Leave for 30 minutes rinse well and dry

onto any natural fabric It works especially well on cotton and calico Miracle Fix liquid is a thin milky fluid that dries clear and was originally made to improve the handle of cotton fabrics It was coincidentally discovered that it also altered the surface in a way that allowed full colour Transfer printing to take place Normally only a poor pale result was possible on natural fabrics which was always very disappointing Now the result on natural fabric is every bit as good as it would be on a synthetic surface and the liquid is very clean and easy to use Simply soak the fabric to be used in the liquid in a shallow dish and wring it out over the dish Any liquid remaining can be poured back into the bottle It is important to immerse silk particularly in the liquid to prevent a water mark developing but the liquid can be painted on to wool for example which as it s thick might absorb more fluid than is needed to coat the surface and be uneconomical Smooth out the fabric and allow it to dry it won t take long Iron the fabric if you want to or

I work out how much dye I ll need The amount of dye needed is calculated by weighing the fabric dry first For every 100gms weight of fabric you ll need 5gms dye Do you have a dye for Acrylic or Lycra Unfortunately we are unable to offer a dye for Acrylic and Lycra Can dark coloured items be dyed with pale colours It isn t possible to dye a dark coloured item with a paler coloured dye Do I need to be careful when using multiple colours Always remember the laws of colour mixing for example a bright yellow item dyed with light blue dye will end up green and with a dark blue dye will end up a greeny blue I ve stained an item can I hide the stain by dyeing If the item you are planning to dye is stained the dye is unlikely to remove it Sadly it is likely that the stained area will colour but will still look slightly different from the rest of the item Can I dye settee covers It is possible to dye pure cotton settee covers with Omega Dyrect Dyes but do remember that it does depend on being
