    Burials Penryn Library Penryn Surgery Food Bank Parks and Open Spaces Schools Museum One Stop Shop Calendar of Community Events Weddings Volunteer in Penryn Exchequer Quay Gallery Links News Contact Us Town Team Visit Penryn Penryn and District Twinning Association Penryn is twinned with the town of Audierne in France Set up in 1973 the twinning between Penryn and Audierne is one of the longest established in Cornwall Audierne lies in the far west of Brittany about 20 miles west of Quimper Situated at the mouth of the River Goyen it was once a busy fishing port but today the harbour is predominately a yacht marina Shops and cafés border two sides of the harbour and a busy market is held each Saturday morning At the southern end of the town facing AudierneBayand the Atlantic Ocean are fine sandy beaches The Allée de Penryn is a footpath named in honour of the twinning link This wide level path runs alongside the River Goyen and leads eventually to the small town of Pont Croix The Twinning Association aims to foster and develop links of friendship and understanding between the two towns and their surrounding areas This is mainly achieved by encouraging

    Car Parks Burials Penryn Library Penryn Surgery Food Bank Parks and Open Spaces Schools Museum One Stop Shop Calendar of Community Events Weddings Volunteer in Penryn Exchequer Quay Gallery Links News Contact Us Town Team Visit Penryn Penryn Women s Institute Penryn Women s Institute has formed an integral part of life in Penryn for the past 82 years Founded in June 1929 and until recently has met at the Welfare Hall on every Wednesday since that date Nowadays the meetings are held twice a month Inaugurated by the Mayoress of the day Mrs J C Annear the wife of a prominent coal merchant whose business operated adjacent to Penryn Quay At a largely attended meeting Mrs Annear was elected President Various Committees were appointed and the Mayoress entertained the gathering to a pasty supper The Women s Institute has been a great asset to the life of Penryn Town over the ensuing years especially during times of crisis i e during the war the institution helped to welcome many evacuees from London helping the billeting in various homes with new families Many of the evacuees remained after hostilities The Welfare Hall had to be vacated to be accommodated as
