of continuing I don t know something about know thine enemy With the help of Nick and Alex and of course Gary s new found knowledge we chose a male and his name was Little Legend He was light fawn compact in stature very fine in micron but what turned it for us was his head It was the most alpaca type head you could ask for Very handsome Little Legend or Donkey as we sometimes called but that s another story turned out to be a star The first cria he gave us was Brown female Champion at Devon County in 2006 It went on from there and as recently a son of his Popham Daniel was Black Champion at the Salbris France show in 2013 Daniel is now on stud duties in Gers Why am I going on about this you wonder Well Legend is in retirement on a friends sheep farm on Bodmin Moor He loves his new job as Protector an apparently is very good at it as these photos show Enjoy your retirement old man but don t think we ve forgotten you You may receive a call to meet some ladies one day Posted

  • Escape artists...... - Popham Alpacas
Sanders The one ram we ve had this year is a right little character and is for ever nipping under the gate and exploring around the farm Today he ended up in one of the alpaca fields The alpacas were naturally curious but the ram wasn t in the slightest bit concerned Saturday is shearing day I went on a refresher course at Langaton last week so plan to do a few myself just to get back into the swing of things but I will let Colin Ottery do the majority Me shearing again will make things a whole lot easier doing the show team etc later in the year Posted in Cria Post navigation 2012 Show Results Shearing day 2 thoughts on Escape artists Patou Warrior says 8th May 2012 at 6 43 pm With your new ripped physique the shearing will be a doddle Reply gary sanders says 9th May 2012 at 9 32 am There you have it it takes one ripped mighty warrior to recognise another Reply Leave a Reply Cancel reply Your email address will not be published Required fields are marked Comment Name Email Website All Alpacas for Sale Female Alpacas for sale Stud

  • Devon County Show..... - Popham Alpacas
won t be so eager in reminding them of the early entry closing date next year The entry count was 230 plus which was a Show record The is all the more encouraging when you consider that last year the entry only numbered 150 or so Devon County were so pleased with the Alpaca section they even came up with eight cash prizes worth over 100 for the Junior handlers on the last day unbeknown to a very confused Peter and I You should have seen the delight on the kids faces when they opened their envelopes Oh where was the camera The huacaya prizes were dominated by one of the biggest breeders in the south west Classical Mileend who won numerous championships and the Supreme Huacaya Prize much to my disappointment as I thought Joshua s chance had finally come He won the white Male championship in a very competitive field of superb males Unfortunately he was pipped to the post by a Classical Junior Fawn Male called Zerxes who had an extremely pretty fleece Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr I don t have many pictures as I was a bit busy but thank you everyone who attended Peter and I will be getting together shortly to have a sort of debrief and discuss all the comments we have received during and post the Show to see how we can improve it for next year And it will improve We already have plans of how to make the Saturday a more enjoyable and less hurried day see you next year We said goodbye to Thunder after the show He went to his new home at Inca Alpaca having just won the Black championship Felicia was in floods of tears in the showring Val was rather concerned that she may have done something to

  • Cosmo's first.... - Popham Alpacas
3rd June 2011 29th January 2016 by Gary Sanders There was a surprise in the field yesterday Inca Piper our brown suri girl had delivered us a little brown girl at 10 months into her gestation But there was no need to panic the little thing 5 7kg was charging around all over the place No signs of prematurity she even has early teeth We are sure of the dates because Piper was only mated once Anyway this is Cosmo s first cria he is now proven and what a great result Firstly a girl secondly a suri and thirdly a dark colour which is the very reason we bought Cosmo as a future stud We are off to Bath West later today just for the suri classes tomorrow Hopefully it won t be as hot as today I ll bet there s a bit of whingeing amongst the huacaya breeders there today Posted in Cria Post navigation Devon County Show 2011 Results Bath West Leave a Reply Cancel reply Your email address will not be published Required fields are marked Comment Name Email Website All Alpacas for Sale Female Alpacas for sale Stud Male Alpacas for sale Pet Guard
