  • I concede defeat.... - Popham Alpacas
he has been moved to Fawn in the future My second Hobgoblin on closer examination by the senior partner and myself is even more fawn than Commander So he is out My final choice Dino who was initially my first has a bad bite so even though he has the best fleece of the three he would not do very well and I would prefer not to take him into the ring The judge would look at me very strangely with a sort of don t you know anything sort of look So there you have it Mark congratulations you truly are the Mighty Brown Breeder of Patou I suspect it will be a hollow victory but I owe you that BBQ sometime Posted in Cria Post navigation Futurity Results 2011 Further Industry at Popham 3 thoughts on I concede defeat Mark says 16th March 2011 at 3 18 pm Well that has given me a rather long chuckle Sorry that your candidates will not be competeing with THE MIGHTY PATOU ROGER RESILIENT AKA THE POPHAMBASHER who will now be paraded around the paddock like the true champion that he is Actually between you and me I was kind of dreading it he came nowhere at The Futurity and his fleece needs to change a bit for him to do any real damage in the ring Still victory is ours and we will gloat and boast about it for many months We look forward to the ensuing Barbecue invitation Reply gary sanders says 16th March 2011 at 3 47 pm Well that didn t take you long Mark I have only just pressed the enter button to post the blog I will take earplugs to the Swag show actually on second thoughts I may send someone in my place Reply

  • Great news.... - Popham Alpacas
farm Well the reason is that this is first cria to be sired by our appaloosa male Camouflage Dawn gave me a call as she was concerned about her female that was in labour She lives not too far away so Dogo and I jumped into the Toyota with birthing kit in hand By the time we got there though things had progressed nicely and all that was needed was a little tug and the cria was on the ground Now you are probably still wondering why we are so excited well the reason is the cria is not only a female which Dawn was delighted about and it is a very strong cria and weighed in at 9 5kg which Dawn was also delighted about The real reason we are so excited is that it is a SPOTTY In my rush to get there I forget my trusty Nikon so will pop in after work today to get some pictures for the blog which will be posted later Posted in Cria Post navigation Post Spring show hangover PPPPerfect One thought on Great news steve and Jayne says 27th April 2010 at 8 53 pm Terrific News will tune in

  • Shearing, shows and another spotty cria.... - Popham Alpacas
scorcher but the new facilties for the alpaca show were tremendous Two big marquees with a show ring right on top of the hill Even better was the parking for exhibitors behind the marquees The breakfasts at the show are always something to look forward to as well in the stockmans restuarant Our results were very good with Gomez winning the Suri Championship and Joshua was the reserve Champion Huacaya There were 144 entries which was down on previous years but I spotted a few faces in the crowd having a look at the arrangements for biosecurity etc and I reckon they will start trickling back in the next few years Understandibly a lot of people are scared to show at the moment Camouflage has had another two cria The first is another female born at Hendra Alpacas She is a SPOTTY His second in a row I am waiting for a photo to arrive in the email as soon as it does it will be on the blog A whopping great 10 kg cria Today he has had a third born here at Popham 6 weeks early Regular readers of this blog will remember the premature cria born last year to our black female Bonny All was going well till it got joint ill and had to be put down Well Bonny has gone and done it again It s another girl not spotty but a solid brown We already have steroids ready just incase it happened and fortunately Felicia was at home this morning when the cria arrived Felicia says she s quite big but obviously premature Tracy and Felicia will milk Bonny to get the colostrum and tube it into the cria My IGg testing kit arrived last week so I ll have my first cria to
