  • Photos of some of our cria born over the last month - Popham Alpacas
had a busy month but such fun watching the cria playing Great to see that our mating decisions last year have produced some high quality progeny Popham Equador our black stud has constantly produced very dark colour including a blue black so he will be busy again this year Cambridge Joshua although white had a daughter to day from Popham Ferren a brown female I had to assist on this birth and I am proud to say everything hopefully will be fine The little girls legs were tucked back and Ferren let me delve in and re arrange the legs without anyone to hold her still They are amazing and seem to know when to let you help I must also mention the Suri cria s whose lustre makes them shine out in the field Posted in Cria Post navigation Best time of year cria arrivals First time I have ever experienced a maiden nurture her own and a bottle fed One thought on Photos of some of our cria born over the last month Patou says 9th July 2014 at 9 29 pm All looking good in Popham world Reply Leave a Reply Cancel reply Your email address will

  • First time I have ever experienced a maiden nurture her own and a bottle fed - Popham Alpacas
born on Wimbledon men s final day all seemed to be fine except he was constantly at the milk bar This I treat as a warning sign and unfortunately mum had no milky but loved her new baby So I eventually got a little Osmonds colostrum into him but he was fighting and not at all keen So next decision to stomach tube plasma to make sure he had the necessary antibodies I kept persevering with the bottle but eventually had to stomach tube him again with Osmonds colostrum The next day took the bottle very reluctantly and so one for a few days but mum still no milk So we had to take Novac away and then once mum was out of the equation he started to take the bottle and so I heaved a sigh of relief Then it all started to go downhill he completely refused the bottle I noticed that he was following Dee Dee around and then early one morning as I approached to feed him he was suckling from Dee Dee and she was perfectly happy What a star her little boy is doing well and he appears to be doing ok not gaining much weight but still with us Novac allows Dee Dee s cria to drink first and then he tucks in and while this is all going on she stands patiently Alpacas never cease to amaze me such wonderful intelligent animals Posted in Cria Post navigation Photos of some of our cria born over the last month Great news for our Appaloosa breeding program One thought on First time I have ever experienced a maiden nurture her own and a bottle fed Jayne says 24th July 2014 at 3 58 pm Lovely story Felicia sometimes one gets females like that our
