  • Halter Training - Popham Alpacas
junior suri males for the Futurity and as far as suris are concerned they are behaving pretty well Last Sunday I was up at Stoneleigh for the BAS National Shows Committee meeting It went on for 6 hours and we covered everything from show rules trimming sedatives right the way through to the thorny subject of tb This was the first of these meetings where the regional groups send their representatives to discuss the various issues Recommendations are then made to the board for approval I am pleased to say it was not negative at all and it was decided that shows must definitely carry on but obviously bio security has to be tightened up and people made aware of what risks there are Posted in Cria Post navigation All clear Temporary paddock One thought on Halter Training Rolf Barbakken Knapper Alpakka says 13th February 2010 at 6 47 pm It would be a sad day when we have to quit having shows or visit eachothers farms because of disease risks Hope we get the diseases under control Reply Leave a Reply to Rolf Barbakken Knapper Alpakka Cancel reply Your email address will not be published Required fields are marked

gone into making chickens Our randy buff orpington cockerel has spent a busy couple of weeks with the buff orpington hens in their own loveshack and we now have 18 eggs sitting in an brand new incubator Hopefully he s not firing blanks and the eggs are all fertilised We will be able to tell after 7 days with our new Ovascan egg candler There is one slight oddity about these buff orpington eggs They should be brown but one of the hens is laying green eggs Obviously not a homozygous buff Anyone tell me a good eating chicken I can only eat so many eggs But that is not all that is happening here at Popham Having been born in Africa I have these sudden cravings for biltong especially when watching rugby which for those who don t know is the South African dried meat Their way of preserving meat during the days of the voortrekkers I looked into a biltong maker on the web but having seen the price I have decided to develop a Popham prototype biltong maker The first samples should be ready in about another 3 days if I can wait that long Yes it is a dustbin the fan comes from the back of a computer and the bulb is a 100W Imitating the dry southern African climate We have sorted out our show team for the Futurity one adult 4 intermediates and seven juniors The halter training is apparently coming on very well Felicia won t let me do halter training I am apparently too impatient Posted in Cria Post navigation Experience Day The chicks have arrived Leave a Reply Cancel reply Your email address will not be published Required fields are marked Comment Name Email Website All Alpacas for Sale Female Alpacas
