  • Post French Trip hangover....... - Popham Alpacas
victorious day already planned was crowned Supreme Huacaya Alpaca at the European Alpaca Concours So often the runner up he finally pulled it off even with his poodle haircut Actually the cross channel alliance of Popham and Quelvehin had a pretty good weekend Not only did we bag Huacaya Supreme but also took home Brown Huacaya Champion Black Huacaya Champion and Coloured Suri Champion As you can see from the photo they look pretty happy about it I do love our trips to France we re only 15 minutes from the ferry this end a few beers on the ferry then we wake up in France and we feel as though we are on holiday Quelvehin Alpacas and gites are about a 90 minute drive from Roscoff and the accomodation is wonderful We haven t had a bill yet either The next day we load the alpacas up and start about a 5 6 hour drive to Vierzon We always stay the Arches Hotel in Vierzon our third time there now and its a bit like home from home The public areas are decorated with framed posters and photos of 1950 s era movie stars plus old juke boxes etc rather quirky but nice to have something different from the usual standard hotel decor The Friday night saw the AGM of the French alpaca society and don t ask me why but Jane and Steve had to endure a rather difficult meeting while Felicia and I nipped off to the pub Why is there always politics in the alpaca industry no matter where I go you find it Something to do with egos I guess I must confess the post victory celebrations on the Saturday night were a bit subdued We were knackered basically However Sunday saw us up early

  • Who to take to the 2015 Nationals? - Popham Alpacas
Posted on 4th December 2014 29th January 2016 by Gary Sanders The Nationals are not until 7 8 march 2015 but entries opened on 1 12 2014 so time to make those difficult decisions The fleeces can change so much in 4 months especially the juniors and then we each have our favourites so a tense time in our household We have limited places in our van and trailer so the alpacas have to show not only excellent fleece traits but also good confirmation I would like to take more as some do deserve a place in the show team but they will have to wait for future shows well that is what I tell them Some just do not know how to stay clean Posted in Cria Post navigation Stunning Suri s Started weaning some of 2014 cria One thought on Who to take to the 2015 Nationals Patou Warrior says 6th December 2014 at 7 06 pm Crikey that brown one looks nice don t bring that one Reply Leave a Reply Cancel reply Your email address will not be published Required fields are marked Comment Name Email Website All Alpacas for Sale Female Alpacas for sale Stud

  • I know....totally mad!!! - Popham Alpacas
Before you say it we know totally bonkers Why I don t know seemed like a good idea As you can see the rhea herd flock has more than doubled suddenly We came back from a recent trip to visit the daughter with four rhea in the back of the Rav Two white and two grey about 3 months old and very lively It was an interesting journey as long as you were moving they kept quiet and settled nicely Once you stopped their heads started popping up shortly followed by the rest of their body They were some very strange looks from passing cars Fortunately we didn t hit any traffic snarl ups and made it safely home The new ones have settled in very quickly with the existing three and look quite nice in the field Posted in Cria Post navigation Turning Heads Suri Lustre One thought on I know totally mad steve parker says 28th January 2011 at 6 23 pm just look at the lustre on those feathers Reply Leave a Reply to steve parker Cancel reply Your email address will not be published Required fields are marked Comment Name Email Website All Alpacas for Sale
