  • Rabbits everywhere - Popham Alpacas
everywhere Cria Rabbits everywhere Posted on 12th August 2008 29th January 2016 by Gary Sanders This little fellow is always around in the top field with the females especially at feeding time He has become very bold and won t run off as you approach He obviously realises he is safe amongst the alpacas So one of the drawbacks of owning an alpaca herd is an explosion in the rabbit population All is well with the crias at the moment they seemed to have survived the torrential rain The last group will start arriving shortly and then I ll start getting some more pics on the blog Spoke to Robin in Brittany last night where they ve hardly had any rain and our boy over there Popham Colombus has had his first cria start hitting the ground Four girls out of four Not a bad start Posted in Cria News Post navigation Experience day Camelford Show Leave a Reply Cancel reply Your email address will not be published Required fields are marked Comment Name Email Website All Alpacas for Sale Female Alpacas for sale Stud Male Alpacas for sale Pet Guard Alpacas for sale Appaloosa Alpacas for sale Stud Services

  • Rain.... - Popham Alpacas
will need swimming lessons shortly and my beautiful shiny rheas look like something the cat brought in When will it stop Went to the SWAG AGM on Saturday and as expected TB provoked most of the discussion but I am pleased to say that there was a lot of common sense spoken and I came away feeling much happier about the situation I think its a fear of the unknown that worries people the most and when some experienced people from the farming world give their opinion of the situation as happened at the meeting the actual position becomes much clearer As you might expect the trusty Nikon is safely put away in the camera bag at the moment No one is seeing my alpacas looking as they do at the moment Posted in Cria Post navigation A few more pics of the Rhea Frenzy Quiet week 4 thoughts on Rain Perry says 23rd November 2009 at 12 39 pm Please can we have some of that rain Swap you some 40 degree days Reply gary sanders says 23rd November 2009 at 7 40 pm You re on How about a farm swop for a month don t forget your wellies Reply Perry says 24th November 2009 at 10 59 am Tempting tempting Quagmire paddocks are not combustible and there s probably still plenty of green feed over there But on the other hand there s the Christmas BBQ and hours in the pool drinking margaritas Nah on second thoughts I ll put up with the heat Reply gary sanders says 24th November 2009 at 1 30 pm Now that was just unkind to get my hopes up Reply Leave a Reply to Perry Cancel reply Your email address will not be published Required fields are marked Comment Name Email

  • Busy few days - Popham Alpacas
2013 29th January 2016 by Gary Sanders Popham was the venue for the Cornwall Camelid Association vet day 25 alpaca breeders attended the day which we were delighted with Sarah from Calweton Vets gave an informative talk on growing cria and skin conditions After lunch Sarah went through some of our animals to show a basic health check eg jaw problems anaemia injection etc and then a walk around the farm Calweton who deal with our animals are very enthusiastic which is great to have expert veterinary advice so nearby I cooked what I thought was far too much food but all was consumed down to the last scraps so even my cooking was appreciated The day went well and it was really great to catch up with other breeders which you do not see very often and talk about all things alpaca from the animals to fleeces and products Posted in Cria Post navigation Stunning Suris Local craft fair with our own Popham yarn etc Leave a Reply Cancel reply Your email address will not be published Required fields are marked Comment Name Email Website All Alpacas for Sale Female Alpacas for sale Stud Male Alpacas for sale Pet

  • Late night...... - Popham Alpacas
regularly all was well last evening We could also watch the comings and goings on our new CCTV system from the comfort of the house We could even recognise Cinderella when she walked into the barn at about 8pm with her tail in the air and looking decidedly uncomfortable The senior partner immediately informed me that she was in labour Rubbish they only give birth in daylight hours I replied Boy was I wrong Anyway to cut a long story short the vet finally left at 11 30pm having been called to deliver a cria who had presented backwards and which despite our efforts we could not dislodge A rather fragile white suri boy lay there with Cinderella completely uninterested Midnight saw us milking Cinderella and eventually we made it to bed at 1 00pm Photos to follow I m at the day job today Now some advice please One of his front legs has tight tendons and won t straighten Massage seems to be improving but we have heard a tetrcyline injection helps loosen the tendons Any suggestions Oh and thank goodness for the CCTV I think it s already paid for itself Posted in Cria Post navigation Compass

  • Compass and Camilla - Popham Alpacas
The alpacas were open to all the elements so Young Farmers kindly offered us some space in their marquee and we moved the alpaca pen in their where as per normal they were the centre of attention They were even honoured by a Royal Visitor who was rather enchanted by Compass as she passed by Felicia gave Camilla a ball of our wool which she kindly accepted only to have it grabbed of her by a bodyguard who rushed outside and I think carried out a small controlled explosion behind the Royal Royal Range Rover By Saturday the weather had improved enough for us to set up and thankfully business was quite brisk Posted in Cria Post navigation 1st cria and Bath West Late night 3 thoughts on Compass and Camilla Judi says 10th June 2012 at 11 50 am Wow that right royal photo will be one for the album won t it Reply Dave Apple Vale says 10th June 2012 at 10 56 pm Ha ha you just can t be too careful with that Suri wool can you Reply Patou warrior says 11th June 2012 at 6 34 am Are you Popham Alpacas by Royal Appointment now
