    on a rising tide this cove s large flat sandy beaches offer some great evening or night fishing for Bass Turbot and Skate You ll need to be prepared to retreat with the incoming tide and be careful when the tide is particularly low some spots on the sand can become supersaturated Loe Bar On the south coast just onto the Lizard facing south west Loe Bar is a popular fishing spot and hosts a number of competitions throughout the year It s a steeply shelving shingle beach with strong tides but does offer some excellent results with the right bait A good cast can get you into some nice deep water Gwithian Similar fishing to Chapel Porth this beach has a strong reputation for providing good sized fish Like any surf beach care should be taken not to get caught by fast incoming tides and a good long cast will be needed to get right into the breakers Boat Fishing in Cornwall The main ports for leisure fishing in our part of Cornwall are Falmouth and Fowey on the south coast and Newquay Padstow and St Ives on the north Falmouth There is a wide variety of opportunities from Falmouth ranging from a long run 20 miles offshore fishing deep wrecks to inshore fishing for mackerel or shallower wrecks There are a number of operators Fowey Fowey has a similar geographic aspect to Falmouth being tucked in behind Dodman Point so a variety of fishing trips are available Looe The most easterly fishing port in Cornwall Looe is extremely tidal ambitious people can wade across the river at low tide but has a number of fishing charter boats and is well located for some excellent wreck rock and shark fishing Mevagssey Tucked in on the western side of St

    Other cycling routes close to Rayle Farm Holiday Cottages The Great Flat Lode This is a fairly easy going route ideal for families and explores the area around the foot of Carn Brea just to the south of Redruth The terrain is a mixture of off road and on with the off road tracks also varying in type Distance approx 13km There are various places to start park for this route all within a 15 20 minute drive from Rayle Farm Holiday Cottages Tehidy Country Park Not so much a cycle route as such but an area of woodland with various wide marked trails to have some two wheeled fun Distance Approx 5km Idless Woods Another short excursion but one well worth the trip Just north of the county town of Truro Idless is a Forestry Commission run woodland area on the side of a hill All the trails are off road with one large made up track running up the middle and smaller trails either side it s easy to ride away a couple of hours here Distance between 3 and 10km depending on the tracks you follow One note on Idless is that it is a popular dog walking area so you need to keep an eye out for our four legged friends Further Afield There are several good trails within a sensible travelling distance of Rayle Farm Holiday Cottages Cardinham Woods Travelling Time Approx 1 hour Terrain off road made up tracks Cardinham is another major Forestry Commission area and as such specifically aimed at multiple use Mountain Biking is encouraged and there are several areas that provide exciting cross country riding along with some good downs for the adrenalin junkies There s plenty of parking and picnic barbecue area as well as a cafe and toilet

    around Land s End to Poole in Dorset The Cornish coast offers some of the most spectacular scenery along its route taking in the dramatic cliffs and sandy beaches on the north coast the industrial heritage of tin mines perched precariously on the cliffs around Cape Cornwall and the more developed areas on the south coast such as Falmouth and Penzance Woodland Walks in Cornwall It s also important to remember that Cornwall is not only about the coast Places like Idless Woods Tehidy Country Park and Cardinham Woods offer some beautiful woodland through which to wander all are also very dog friendly For something a little more unusual why not visit Kennal Vale a stunning valley in Ponsanooth that is the site of a former gunpowder factory with many of the buildings now ruined and a spectacular fast flowing stream Cornwall is a wonderful county for walking and we are particularly well placed at Rayle Farm being only a mile from the spectacular South West Coastal Path Here are one or two thoughts for local walks A delightful 3 mile circular walk from the farm takes you down the Mineral Tramways track to Portreath where you then can wander back through Illogan woods to Illogan and then home to the farm in Bridge Further afield there is a spectacular coastal walk between Porthtowan and Chapel Porth Reward yourself with a Cornish Hedgehog from the excellent café at Chapel Porth This consists of a ball of icecream rolled in clotted cream and nuts very sustaining A favourite inland walk of our s starts near St Agnes and you walk alongside a stream through a wooded coombe to the sea by the old Blue Hills Mine There are some amazing old mining relics to be seen along this route If you
