    Go back 4th Mar 2015 Seddon appointed to 1bn North West Construction Hub framework Builder and developer Seddon has been awarded a place on the renewed 1bn North West Construction Hub framework The 200 million turnover company can now bid for projects worth up to 9 million across the North West region through the framework administered by Manchester City Council after securing places on 10 out of the 12 framework lots The medium value lots are for work worth between 2m and 9m in Cumbria Cheshire Greater Manchester Lancashire and Merseyside for the client base which includes councils and other public bodies Seddon already has a place on the low value framework for projects worth up to 500k which is currently undergoing re procurement Jonathan Seddon Managing Director of Seddon said We have a fantastic record for delivering high quality schemes for our clients and we are naturally delighted that we ve been selected for this framework The North West Construction Hub framework will allow us to build on our current reputation across the region and gives us a platform for growth in 2015 The procurement body expects to award anywhere between 250m and 1bn through the framework over the next three years with an option to extend for a further year The framework will enable public sector organisations and the construction companies to work in partnership to deliver projects more efficiently on time and within budget with an enhanced focus on quality added value and sustainability outcomes Jonathan added As a firm that began and is headquartered in the North West we are delighted to have been appointed to this framework which will deliver broader economic benefits to communities across the region We look forward to continuing to employing and training on our own sites as we always have

    Feb 2015 Seddon appointed to multi million pound council select list Lancashire County Council has appointed builder and developer Seddon to its 80 million select list for construction Seddon which is headquartered in the North West could be in line for millions of pounds of work thanks to the appointment which will see the company considered for building works worth up to 4 million The local authority will release projects across education leisure social care civic and corporate office landscaping environmental external works and playing fields through the list The council expects to allocate a total of 80 million of works through the list over a four year period Across Lancashire Seddon currently has 66m of projects in construction across a variety of sectors Carl Wilde Regional Director for the North West said We have a strong reputation for delivering projects across in the North West and are delighted to have been appointed to Lancashire County Council s select list for building projects We look forward to working with the council to deliver its ambitious build programmes over the next four years Lancashire County Council s select list is also available to be used by borough councils across the county

    Welsby 46 has worked for builder and developer Seddon for the last 14 years and currently manages the site on Borsdane Ave in Hindley which the company is delivering on behalf of Wigan and Leigh Homes The scheme will see the construction of 20 apartments and four semi detached properties over the next 26 weeks Charlie was named Site Manager of the Year by Seddon an accolade that has been awarded since 2007 at a surprise ceremony on the site He was presented with a silver brick dedicated to Jack Davies who was a Contracts Manager with Seddon for more than 30 years Presenting the trophy Carl Wilde Seddon s Regional Director for the North West said Charlie has shown himself to be one of Seddon s best site managers he is well respected by everyone working on the site and the clients he manages the sites on behalf of I know Wigan and Leigh Homes has been really impressed with Charlie his dedication to the job and the work he oversees on the construction site Charlie worked with Jack Davies who the trophy is dedicated to for more than five years at the beginning of his career I am really honoured to be seen in the same league as Jack he was what we call in the trade as a good builder he told it like it was and lived and breathed the job said Charlie who son also works for the builder and developer as a Trainee Quantity Surveyor Charlie from Salford has his new trophy in pride of place at home Cheryl Jones new build and regeneration manager at Wigan and Leigh Homes said This is a fantastic accolade for Charlie and we are proud that he has won this award while working on a Wigan and

    Zac s Youth Bar s logo which is a distinctive blue and orange Danny McCann Painting Manager at Seddon who helped to carry out the work for the charity said With cuts to Government funding for small charities it s important for businesses like Seddon to step in to help organisations like Zac s which provides a vital service for Bolton s young people It is a project we are very proud to support With the help of Cllr Martin Donaghy we have hopefully managed to kick start the charity s New Year in style Councillor Martin Donaghy Mayor of Bolton said Zac s Youth Bar do an amazing job providing a range of services and support for young people As soon as I heard they were brightening up their foyer I offered to come and lend a hand I hope this will help them to keep supporting young people across Bolton for many years to come The bar run by independent Christian charity The Sycamore Project aims to offer care and support to young people of all faiths and none as well as providing a meeting place free from alcohol and other harmful influences Zac s was established 14 years ago by Stuart Barnes and now works with more than 1 600 youngsters in Farnworth Kearsley and Little Lever offering one to one support as well as recreational activities The charity has seen the number of young people it works with more than double in the last three years at a time when its funding has been slashed by 30 per cent Karen Openshaw Head of Development and Partnerships at Zac s Youth Bar said We are incredibly grateful to Danny and the team from Seddon who themselves are doing a wonderful job empowering young people through their apprenticeship

    the medical needs of people living in the village for almost 70 years The new homes which are for residents over the age of 55 have been built on the site of the former Thornton House sheltered accommodation which was opened in 1971 and was named in recognition of the doctors service to the village Emberton Place residents wanted to find a way to keep the Thornton name in the new development and proposed a commemorative plaque Dr Michael Thornton now aged 86 officially unveiled the plaque with representatives from Seddon and Wulvern and local residents I grew up in Audlem and worked in medical practice alongside my dad until he retired I then carried on until retiring myself in 1991 he said We have lots of friends in the area and I was very touched when the Emberton Place residents got together and suggested the Thornton name should remain in the new development though Thornton House itself is no longer there It is very humbling Dr Thornton was accompanied at the unveiling by his wife Margaret who for many years cooked lunches at Thornton House for the village s elderly people alongside other Women s Royal Voluntary Service volunteers The new homes look fantastic and both Seddon and Wulvern have done a great job said Dr Thornton Ian Calder Regional Manager of Seddon said We hope the homes at Emberton Place serve the community as well as Doctors Gifford and Michael Thornton Their dedication to the village and the medical needs of the people living in Audlem are to be highly commended and we hope that this small tribute to them will make sure their commitment is remembered for many years to come The new homes a range of 10 one and two bedroom properties boast landscaped gardens and

    Stafford s entrance to the Catholic church in the village much to the delight of the local community Ian Calder Regional Manager of Seddon said It was a privilege to be part of the mission to save the mural it was incredibly important to the parishioners that if the original could not be saved then a replica should be produced Workers spent hours photographing the original mural while a specialist company painstakingly reproduced the high resolution images on ceramic tiles Borough Councillor Stan Highfield was instrumental in saving the mural having raised its importance in a consultation meeting at the beginning of the year He said The plaque is now in its rightful place in the church for everyone to see The community is delighted that it could be saved using this ingenious method it s brilliant It s also thanks to Lord Stafford that it has a prominent place in his private entrance to the church Stafford and Rural Homes its development partner Housing Plus and Seddon worked closely with local councillors and Rev Fr Paul Chavasse to find a suitable new home for the mural Rev Fr Paul Chavasse of the Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Swynnerton said Thanks to the generosity of Seddon we have been able to preserve the beautiful mural of Our Lady It will now serve as a precious reminder of the pupils and teachers who graced the corridors of Swynnerton RC Primary School over so many happy years The new homes a mix of 19 bungalows and apartments are predominantly for older people which will encourage downsizing and will release family housing within the parish to ensure that Swynnerton remains a vibrant and thriving place to live in the future Chris Poulton Director of Asset Management and Development at Stafford and
