  • enhanced the lives of others and themselves Featured here is a selection of stories which all began with a Seddon Apprenticeship Daniel Holt Seddon Apprentice of the Year 2014 Daniel joined Seddon Construction in 2011 as an Apprentice Bricklayer He attended Bolton College attaining his NVQ L2 in Trowel Occupations in 2013 and his NVQ L3 in Trowel Occupations in 2014 During 2014 Daniel was entered into Skillbuild NorthWest a competition established to find the best tradespeople Daniel won the Northwest event and progressed onto the national event where he was highly placed 2014 was a very successful year for Daniel as he was also highly commended by the UKCG UK Contractors Group and GM Manchester Chamber for his Apprenticeship Journey Daniel is currently Seddon Apprentice of the Year having won the award in 2014 Shelby Knight 3rd Year Apprentice Painter After nearly 3 years with Seddon Construction Shelby has attended two separate colleges Salford College when attaining her NVQ L2 in Painting and Decorating and now Oldham College where she is working towards NVQ L3 in Painting and Decorating Shelby is a construction ambassador for our industry and regularly mentors and supports new apprentices NEETS and unemployed individuals throughout their careers Shelby plays an active part in our Renov8 project Shelby in 2013 won Seddon 1st Year Apprentice of the Year Award People have this perception of construction as a low pay grubby and male industry but the truth is completely the opposite It s such a creative industry and there is an incredible variety of careers available for people of all walks of life I love working as part of a team getting out and about on different sites and most importantly being able to walk into a room with my tools and make something great out of

    Apprenticeship Options Success Stories How Do I Apply News Contact Us You are here Home Media Centre News Go back 10th Feb 2016 Seddon appointed to academy framework The painting division of national builder and developer Seddon has been appointed to a 225 000 framework by Oasis Community Learning Established in 2004 Oasis Community Learning governs 47 academy schools throughout the UK Seddon which has offices in Birmingham Stoke Bolton and North Wales has been appointed to the charity s three year painting framework which includes internal decoration works to 14 of the organisation s North West based academies The framework commences in 2016 and is worth up to 75 000 each year Kelly Dew Business Development Manager for Seddon s Small Works Division said We have extensive experience of delivering painting projects in live educational facilities with our own dedicated workforce and are delighted to have been appointed to this framework Our painting division is growing and has the ability to deliver large and small scale projects across the UK We look forward to working with Oasis Community Learning on its schools across the North West and beyond News List News Archive News News Archived News Video Library Media

    of the 119 year old family owned construction firm Seddon Following the sad passing of the family owned firm s chairman Christopher Seddon MBE in August 2015 Mike re worked his original poem and created a video tribute to the well known construction boss with Christopher s children Jonathan Jamie and Nicola who are all directors at the firm The poet who also recently worked on the single St Anthony commemorating the life of Anthony Wilson wrote the poem after spending six months shadowing the firm Mike and the Seddon staff recite the poem which captures the history of the company that was founded in 1897 by Christopher s grandfather George Seddon and his brother John and is now in fourth generation family ownership The poem also explores the DNA of the company family quality work craftsmanship and training all things very important to Christopher throughout his life Mike Garry said It is always an honour to work with Seddon Their approach to working with people and encouraging art to be entwined in their working life is refreshing and invigorating in a world so focused on profit This video celebrates Seddon s commitment to young people and training and recognises the importance of their loyal and committed workforce The video opens with a tribute to Christopher who joined the firm as an apprentice bricklayer in 1959 and in 1982 went on to be the third generation of the family to lead the company which now has a turnover of 190 million and employs 700 staff Seddon has trained apprentices for 80 of its 119 year history and over the past 10 years has employed more than 225 apprentices The firm currently employs 57 apprentices and its apprenticeships last for 3 5 years and regularly receives 500 applications for its yearly
