  • Is your website giving out the right messages about your business? - Shropshire Business Today
place with your web developer and offers a few practical tips on ensuring you protect your valuable website asset Make sure you have a contract in place with your web developer It should state that you own the website and should include an assignment to you of all intellectual property rights the developer has in the website The domain name should be properly registered in your name and not the web developer s name Not only that you should retain control of the login details and password for your domain registrar Most domain registrars will provide a facility where you give developer access to your account so that your web developer can access necessary details like your DNS settings Remember your domain name registrar and website hosting company might be different It is equally important that the contract with your hosting company is in your own name and that you have direct administrator access to your hosting account Again grant your web developer developer access The contract should state that you own the underlying source code and all intellectual property rights in the content and any software commissioned for the site Your web developer should tell you when you don t own rights for example where you are using licensed third party software Again such licences and accounts should be in your name It is vital that the web developer is restricted from using or re creating the look and feel of your website for its other customers For instance if your website works well in your particular industry you need to keep its design and layout exclusive and not replicated on the sites of competitors Even with the most basic websites there is no reason why you should not be granted access to update basic information on your site

  • Bank volts - Shropshire Business Today
up Charging Solutions in 2010 providing a range of high end conventional charging equipment for normal cars Our slogan was Vehicle Charging for the Future I m not sure how much either of us realised at the time that the slogan would actually turn out to be a prediction for the business We were in from the beginning with good contacts and the ability to see where the future of motoring was heading I was asked to look at designing and developing some equipment for the electric vehicle market which was really in its infancy And then there was a lightbulb moment the manufacturers were making the vehicles but there was no real infrastructure to charge these cars Within months the entrepreneurs had set up key partnerships in Europe to offer not just their own Charging Points but a range of equipment to support green motoring for the future The company turned over more revenue in March this year than it did throughout 2011 and work is ongoing for a range of products which the automotive industry is discovering it can t do without Michelle hasn t been surprised by the company s rate of growth She was previously involved in building a small company offering telecommunications networks which was later sold in a multi million pound deal to BT She says Good business is all about flexibility and customer service We may be a small environmental technology company compared to some of our competitors but we were in from the beginning with good contacts and the ability to see where the future of motoring was heading And James is in no doubt that despite the increase in pure electric vehicles sales the real revolution is just about to start with the influx of hybrid cars such as the Vauxhall Ampera and the new Toyota Prius plug in model hitting the market We were already working with the car manufacturers we knew what what was coming knew what they wanted and knew what they needed in terms of charging infrastructure That gave us a head start The beginning of last year was very much a question of research and development and we knew that without exception every manufacturer was going to have not just an electric car but a plug in vehicle Game changers There is certainly a market for electric cars but the game changers are cars like the Ampera which can be plugged in but also has a petrol engine It has an incredible range of 350 miles and gives 235 miles per gallon Michelle adds People are put off electric vehicles concerned they are going to get stuck on the motorway after running out of energy They don t want to be worried about when and where they can charge up next But if the car has a petrol engine which can kick in when it needs to now that s a much better option for most motorists But covering all bases is what Charging Solutions does
