    for the prestigious New Angle Prize for Literature The competition recognizes and supports work that is set in or influenced by the region of East Anglia One of the other authors long listed included the ever popular Joanna Trollope and the judging panel which boasted a line up of the likes of Jim Kelly and Esther Freud cited her book as a meticulous and captivating reconstruction of the East Anglian Cobbold family However this was merely the beginning As a result of Jane s passion for history Ipswich Council asked the author to be involved with a heritage project close to her heart A lottery grant has been awarded to restore Holywells Park the old site of the Cobbold s estate as currently only a few buildings remain Pamela The Voice from the Garden s protagonist was the last Cobbold to be born at Holywells in the 1900s and the next person to own the estate donated the park to the public It is the Council s hope to restore all of these buildings from the stables that are depicted so clearly in Jane s writing to the orangery where Pamela s wedding photos were taken in 1919 From here Jane was asked to be involved in a heritage day on 14 August alongside story tellers and artists The author said that although she sold her books at the event she wouldn t care if she didn t sell a single one as she was more delighted that Pamela and her family were being bought to the public s attention once more through this restoration However Jane s marketing and networking strategies were just as vital in manifesting this After the publication of The Voice from the Garden she was quick to contact the East Anglia Daily Times because it
