    route where hands must be used in the ascent There is less to distinguish it from climbing with many easy climbs sometimes referred to as difficult scrambles Scrambling routes are graded from 1 to 3 Grade 1 is unlikely to require a rope but would involve steep and often exposed ground where good route choice is important Grade 2 requires the use of a rope and elementary rock climbing skills to negotiate steeper ridges and gullies Grade 3 is continuous steep scrambing and a rope is used throughout A head for heights and some hill walking experience is required for all our scrambling courses You can book a listed course or contact us to arrange bespoke guiding and tuition to suit your exact needs Our Courses all costs are per person Beginner Intermediate Advanced 2 days 135 Course Dates 2 days 150 Course Dates 2 day 170 Course Dates Beginner This course introduces the hill walker to scrambling by traversing some classic Grade 1 terrain such as the North Ridge of Tryfan and the Crib Goch Ridge The scrambling will cover some exposed and spectacular terrain en route to the summits Instruction Ratio 1 3 Course dates Back to Top

    Ridge Traverse Summer Walking Welsh 3000s Winter Walking Navigation GPS Altimeter Navigation ML Refresher SPA Refresher Via Ferrata Greenland Cuillin Ridge Traverse The Cuillin Ridge Traverse on the Isle of Skye is widely considered to be the finest mountaineering expedition in the British Isles The ridge runs for nearly 8 miles and involves over 10 000 feet of ascent much of it involving scrambling with some sections of rock climbing and abseiling Completing an uninterrupted traverse ranks high among many mountaineers aspirations Snowdonia Climbing offers a 5 day guided programme involving 2 days spent preparing and acclimatising on sections of the ridge before completing a 2 day South to North traverse with a planned bivvy midway An extra day is kept in hand for flexibility and to maximise chances of success given the vagaries of the weather The traverse is a significant undertaking suitable only for those with a good level of fitness Traverse aspirants must be comfortable with exposure and have previous scrambling experience The package is inclusive of guiding 3rd Party Liability Insurance loan of technical bivvy equipment less sleeping bag and rollmat for the 2 day traverse and the provision of mess tent facilities in the campsite

    Ridge Traverse Summer Walking Welsh 3000s Winter Walking Navigation GPS Altimeter Navigation ML Refresher SPA Refresher Via Ferrata Greenland Via Ferrata Translated as Iron way the Dolomite Via Ferrata routes started out as a system of ladders and tunnels carved out by Italian Army engineers in the First World War as a means of defending Italian territory against the Austrian empire Since then some of these old routes have been maintained to provide access to the higher mountains for those who do not rock climb but would like to try something more challenging New purpose built routes have been added over time and these are now spreading to other area s of Italy as well as other countries in Europe A via Ferrata is generally a route involving scrambling over steep rocky terrain and ascending descending iron runged ladders Many of these routes have fixed cable bolted to the mountain side wherever the route is considered to be exposed When on a Via Ferrata route you will be wearing a climbing harness with a Via Ferrata set through which you are attached to the cable You guide will demonstrate how to clip into the fixed cables which you should make
