  • wedding at the Braywick Road centre he was on familiar ground Plus having met so many members over the years he wanted to give back to a good cause where he has seen the benefits first hand Another thing that was evident from early on in this wedding was that the groom was doing most of the organising Centre Manager Jennie Bouron happily held regular meetings with Trevor and family to ensure that everything was set for the celebration Another difference to this wedding was how the service was received Over 60 special family members and overseas visitors were treated to a seat in SportsAble s wedding room and those who couldn t get seated didn t miss out They were all made comfortable in the loungebar area where the ceremony was beamed across live onto the widescreen television Over a welcome drink t hey saw every moment including the bride s entrance along a very special red carpet The final difference to the first ever SportsAble wedding was that the groom took to the stage and performed with his band shortly after getting married Trevor and his PFJ band mates entertained the bubbly crowd for a full 45 minutes before everyone sat down to a two course dinner of salmon fillet beef bourguignon or chicken Provencal followed by cake Later guests were enjoyed a Champagne toast or as the couple put it Apologies to France but we prefer New Zealand Cloudy Bay Perlorus and a surprise ice cream course which awaited guests out on the lawns in the shape of an ice cream van To complete the day off the Stewarts made a further gesture to SportsAble by donating the white silk rose trees tablecloths and a beautiful red white and blue the couple s colours and the charity

  • an international tournament is an amazing experience and helps you to shape as a player and they are always fun However I was also nervous because you don t know who you are going to be playing or if you are going to get a good draw and I was nervous because I was worried about whether I was going to play well or not How much extra training do you have to do I do some sort of training every day and train twice a day if I can so I didn t really up my training too much before the competition because I wouldn t want to over train However we normally have a pre competition training camp which we attend What was the best thing about playing an international tournament The best thing about playing an international tournament is the experience you gain from it experiencing lots of different styles of play helps you to improve as a player because you are being exposed to different players As I played back to back internationals Romanian Open and then the Spanish Open four days later it was very tiring but it was amazing to get to play lots of different players And the worst thing The worst thing is the tiredness When competing we are in the sports hall by 7am and sometimes we won t get back to the hotel until 10pm which takes its toll on your body and mind It is important to have good nutrition whilst away otherwise you ll really struggle and it could affect your performance What did you learn from playing back to back tournaments I had a really good tournament in Romania and played better than ever before However in the Spanish Open I had a tougher draw and my first match was the world number one who hasn t lost a match in four years These matches are a good learning curve at this stage of my development because it helps me to play better as I can learn from my opponents Playing back to back has helped me to remember to look at each tournament and match individually Is there pressure on you to now improve even more There is pressure but it is a good pressure I love table tennis so much that Romania has motivated me because it showed me how well I can play and Spain has inspired me and showed me the areas in which I need to look at What who inspires you to always do your best My love for table tennis and my dream of winning a Paralympic Gold Medal is what inspires me Being able to do something that you love at such a high level is an honour When I play world class players it motivates me to go away and train even harder because there is a potential that I could be as good as them as I develop Any travel tips that you could pass on to
