  • University near the home of the Boccia England headquarters was the impression they left on the boccia community So many people came up to us and commented on how much we have improved since playing in the regional individuals competition in January smiles a justifiably proud Daniel aged just 13 Their coach Melissa Paulden was thrilled with their results Daniel and Penny went into this competition with amazing confidence and it seems as if they have created a buzz on the boccia circuit They always work hard in training and they are improving all the time They have both been playing for just over a year so I predict that with lots of practice and dedication which they both have in abundance they will be a force to be reckoned with next year and in years to come Boccia is an indoor ball game similar to boules or petanque where the object of the game is to propel soft blue or red leather balls towards a white jack ball to score maximum points The Paralympic sport is played in a series of timed ends and has four official categories BC1 BC2 BC3 BC4 To ensure fair competition each category is made up of players with similar physical limitations Boccia is a sport that is growing in popularity up and down the country Although meant originally for players with Cerebral Palsy and Muscular Dystrophy the sport has welcomed players on a regional and club level to enjoy its social and physical benefits SportsAble runs a weekly two hour boccia session that is open to players with a physical and sensorial disability and their families To find out more please email Section Leaderand Coach melissa paulden sportsable co uk Join Us Join Only 40 a year with reduced rates for families Sign
