  • a burning desire to make horse riding competitions for disabled people as fair as possible and so went on to develop a classification system for Para Equestrian Dressage that is used internationally Chris uses a similar system to profile new members at SportsAble to ensure that they can take part in sport safely and with enjoyment Chris and her team of volunteer physiotherapists advise new members on what sports to start trying and helps them to get the most out of SportsAble from the moment they join As a founding member of SportsAble Chris has been such a hands on help giving professional advice to members and being an active volunteer for 37 years The stunning awards ceremony took place at Madejski Stadium s prestigious Royal Berkshire Conference Centre where 250 people gathered to celebrate the achievements of athletes organisations sports clubs coaches and volunteers from all over Berkshire Mayors from towns all over the county plus MP Rob Wilson and ten of the region s Olympians and Paralympians rubbed shoulders with the up and coming sports stars of the future including two of our own table tennis and wheelchair basketball elite squad member Lucie Bouron and Boccia England talent squad member Tia Ruel both of whom were Highly Commended in the Junior Sports Personality female category There were 125 nominees from 40 different organisations and naturally SportsAble s Chairman Vivienne Davies was pleased with her charity s results on the night She says I am thrilled that SportsAble won so many Inspiration and Participation Awards It is wonderful to be recognised several times and I am especially pleased that Chris Meaden won the Lifetime Achievement Award SportsAble was up against a wealth of sporting talent from all over the county which makes our wins much more meaningful Well done
