  • to celebrate sporting achievement from grass roots to elite sport and this year was the first year that the Star Club Awards were given SportsAble is honoured to receive one of just five Star Club Awards issued and the trophy will take special place in the Braywick Road Centre s trophy cabinet The Star Club Award is a special awards category created this year following on from the success of the Summer s Games Barry Horne Chief Executive of EFDS said of the awards This is a great celebration to top off a fantastic year of sport The event brings together those who have found success in 2012 with the aspiring athletes of the future It is vital that we build on the momentum of this year to ensure disabled people can be active for life Back at SportsAble Sports Manager Nick Gibbs proudly announced I m very pleased to let you know that at Thursday evening s Awards Dinner SportsAble won the first ever Star Club Award sponsored by the Nationwide and EFDS On behalf of SportsAble Vivienne and I were very privileged to receive this fantastic award which comes with a prize of 2 000 The award recognises the achievements of the club as a whole but without our excellent team of Sports Section Leaders and their fantastic band of volunteers we wouldn t have been able to put in such a strong nomination So a great big thank you to all of you for helping us to win such a prestigious award Keep up the good work and let s hope we have another fantastic year in 2013 The 2 000 prize will be fed into SportsAble s junior sports programme to fund the development of more sport for future athletes aiming for Rio 2016 and beyond
