been a case of building up my contacts and customer base alongside other full time work until I was able to fully launch BarFlyUK in summer 2012 Slowly launching the business in this way helped me to keep the start up costs down and most of my business has come about from word of mouth which from my experience has been the best form of marketing 3 Why East Dulwich My partner and I moved to the area in 2011 and straight away we knew that it was the right place for BarFlyUK Lordship Lane is full of great places to eat and amazing food shops so it was evident that people appreciate great produce Above all of that though there is a great community feel around the place Walking past the park by Goose Green it is great to see groups of mums and dads talking together while the kids play It was evident that there were plenty of people around who would appreciate the concept of having a great night in the comfort of their own home without the added stress of finding a babysitter 4 Which cocktail is your own personal favourite Of the classics I would always go for an Old Fashioned bourbon sugar syrup and Angustura Bitters but I d have to say my all time favourite is the Pine Needle Gimlet Gin with home made pine needle cordial served in the Zetter Townhouse Sometimes you only need a couple of ingredients to make an amazing drink and the Pine needle Gimlet is the perfect example of that 5 Being a Mixologist sounds terribly glamorous what s the reality It s the best job out there especially in the way my business works Of course it can involve long hours and can be incredibly stressful but at the end of the day you get to go to the party and not wake up with a hangover in the morning As with any small business there s always paperwork to do but that s a small part of the job The rest of the time is about experimenting with different cocktail ideas reading cocktail books spending time in bars getting inspiration and of course making drinks for people It s a tough job but someone has to do it It must be even tougher for my girlfriend who seems to have adopted the role of chief taster for me Editors Note At this point Suzanne and Amanda were quick to offer their services whenever needed 6 Can anyone book you for their event no matter what the numbers Absolutely BarFlyUK is about providing drinks for any event whether it be a small dinner party for 4 or a wedding for 150 Every event is treated in the same way we ll meet with you talk through your drinks preferences and work with you to make sure the drinks we serve are perfect for your event 7 Is there a cocktail related fact that you think everyone

very long as I pined for my real love making jewellery from scratch in my spiritual home Hatton Garden just one long street between Holborn Circus and Clerkenwell Road which has been the centre of London s diamond and jewellery trade since the Middle Ages 4 What pieces to you make in general and what is your own personal favourite Although I can make almost anything my favourite has always been designing and making engagement rings There is nothing I like more than helping a young couple choose one of the most important purchases they will ever make Something of beauty and value to be treasured always And what can be more romantic than having your engagement ring hand made especially for you All my pieces are my favourites as each one is usually a gift and as a craftsman I always take great pleasure in seeing the finished article 5 Is there a jewellery related fact that you think everyone should know Yes indeed Although size is an important factor in determining the value of a diamond bigger is not always better Cut Colour and Clarity are equally if not more important So remember the Three Cs which is why when a customer is buying a diamond I try to show at least three loose stones within the price range so that the I can explain the how the Three Cs may differ and their individual merits All my pieces are hallmarked at the London Assay Office and I prefer to work in 18 carat gold or platinum as 18 carat is a good colour and platinum wears well 6 Who inspired you most as a young jeweller I have always thought of myself as a traditional jeweller and really admire the craftsmanship of the big Parisien names such as Van Cleef Arpels Cartier Boucheron and Chaumet The intricate design and workmanship of jewellery from the early 1900 s has always fascinated me and although fashions change I will make whatever my customer likes keeping up with modern trends but I admit that my belief and style errs towards the fine workmanship of yesteryear 7 What is your favourite gemstone and why Whilst diamonds are my favourite stones and now there are so many different cuts available the best coloured gemstones such as emeralds sapphires and rubies can be quite magnificent and the best opals have the most wonderful colours 8 For the girls what is the largest diamond you have worked with I can t remember all the work I have done but one of the largest diamonds was a four carat brilliant which was surrounded by ten 20 point diamonds 100 points one carat for which I made a cluster platinum mount This very beautiful six carat top colour diamond ring was a very valuable piece indeed Then there was a magnificent five carat emerald cut diamond for which I made a new mount to include diamond set shoulders very beautiful But most of my work is
