    v yQoFTpWdMZc Tweet 14th Oct 2015 Get up and Go Booklet As part of Older Peoples Day 2015 the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy alongside Saga and Public Health England produced a booklet entitled Get up and go The booklet details current myths around falling and includes a checklist which helps you to decide whether you are at risk and there is plenty of advice on how you can reduce your chances of having a fall by improving your balance muscle strength and more Have a look at the Get Up and Go packed with useful information and tips to help prevent falls http www csp org uk files csp secure get up and go 0 pdf Tweet 14th Oct 2015 Older Peoples Day 2015 In celebration of Older Peoples Day 2015 on the 1st of October Food Train helped spread the word using social media A series of tweets were sent out throughout the day from our 2015 annual report highlighting the impact of services provided by Food Train Food Train Facebook accounts helped promote and celebrate Older Peoples Day by posting status updates including a special befriending trip to Carlisle Tweets sent out with extracts taken from our 2015 annual report highlighting the fantastic work carried out by Food Trains befriending service Food Train Friends in helping tackle loneliness To celebrate Older Peoples Day Food Train Friends took customers to Carlisle for lunch at Houghton Hall Garden Centre followed by a game of ten pin bowling at AMF Bowling The Autumn sunshine helped make the day a huge success and here are some of pictures of them in action Tweet 28th Sep 2015 Food Train 20th anniversary party celebrations Food Train celebrated their 20 th anniversary by hosting a party in the Mitchell Library Glasgow on the 23 rd September 2015 at 1pm To mark this milestone in the history of Food Train past and present customers volunteers and staff attended The event featured the film premier of Food Train s Story so far including a birthday message from our longest serving customer Mrs Wilkinson Customers and volunteers indulged in an afternoon tea and a raffle prize draw took place with entertainment provided by Aonach Mòr Thank you to Campbells for the kind donation of shortbread which was given out to customers and volunteers at the 20th anniversary party Customers volunteers directors and Food Train staff enjoying the 20th anniversary party celebrations Fantastic effort by our West Lothian volunteer Leslie going all out with her home made Food Train nails and earrings The premiere of the Food Train 20th anniversary film featuring our long serving volunteer Bill Brack was screened giving a detailed account on the story so far Long serving volunteer Bill Brack and customer Pat Martin cutting the amazing 20th anniversary cake with each of the seven Food Train branches having their own carriage The entertainment for the day was provided by Aonach Mor 3 outstanding musicians in their own right combining the talents of Grant McFarlane

    27th July and Friday 31st July Food Train is a Healthy Working Lives Silver Award employer and is proud to promote and support healthy choices for our staff in the workplace Above are a selection of pictures with Food Train staff showing their commitment to No Biscuit Week Top At our head office in Dumfries Sandy tucks into a nice healthy fruit pot Centre In North Ayshire Clare Left and Marri Right trade biscuits for a nice juicy apple Bottom Meanwhile Angela in Stirling is enjoying a healthy pear instead of a sugar crammed biscuit You can see she is really enjoying our No Biscuit Week challenge Anyone can join in are you with us Tweet 8th Jul 2015 Civic Reception for anniversary celebrations On Monday 6th July a Civic Reception was held in the Municipal Chambers in Dumfries by Dumfries and Galloway Council to reflect on and celebrate the 20th anniversary of Food Train A number of invited guests were in attendance from local partners Councillors and MSP s alongside past and present members volunteers and Directors Dumfries Provost Councillor Ted Thomson Right made a presentation to Food Train of a commemorative piece of Glassware to Dr Rob Wells Left and Chief Executive Michelle McCrindle MBE Centre marking the occassion of 20 years service to older people Above Dumfries Provost Councillor Far Left Chief Executive Michelle McCrindle MBE Second Right and Chairman Dr Rob Wells Far Right with volunteers Tweet 1st Jul 2015 Food Train celebrates its 20th anniversary On the 29th June Food Train celebrated 20 years on track since making the first delivery in Dumfries in 1995 Since it s launch our fantastic volunteers have achieved 228 000 grocery deliveries made 6 77 million groceries shopped and 631 000 precious hours of volunteering given Throughout the week a number of celebratory events are planned to commemorate the anniversary including twenty acts of kindness for customers who are being presented with gifts from a bunch of flowers to recieving 20 of their shopping On the 29th June Food Train Friends held a 20th anniversary party with food a raffle a quiz and a dance at Hetland Hall Hotel Dumfries attended by customers volunteers directors and staff This event was a fantastic way to bring together customers and volunteers to celebrate 20 years of Food Train Food Train Friends customer Eileen Muir recieved a box of chocolates and a bunch of flowers at the Food Train Friends party at Hetland Hall Hotel on Monday 29th June in one of our twenty acts of kindness Volunteer Karen surprised Mrs Hannay with a 20 voucher towards her shopping delivery as part of our twenty acts of kindness for our anniversary celebrations Thank you to all our amazing volunteers and staff for all their hard work and to all who have supported Food Train over the last 20 years Tweet 18th Jun 2015 Michelle McCrindle CEO awarded an MBE Food Train CEO Michelle McCrindle has been awarded an MBE in the Queen

    Report and Customer Survey are now available on the documents section of our website Tweet 27th Aug 2014 First crowdfunding attempt a success Between the 18 July and 15 August Food Train held its first ever crowdfunding campaign Over the course of 28 days over 750 was raised Aside from two newspaper articles on the campaign all publicity and campaigning took place exclusively online via Social Media The campaign received 45 contributions from countries all around the world Although no contributions were received from them the page was visited by people in Singapore the Philippines and Egypt This just shows the wide reach that online campaigns can have The money raised from the campaign is going to be put towards buying some brand new boxes These boxes are used by our volunteers to deliver our customers weekly grocery shopping orders They form a vital cog in the Food Train machine and it is great to have the funds to replenish our stock Thank you to everyone who made a contribution and shared the campaign on Social Media Tweet 28th Jul 2014 Crowdfunding campaign going strong One week down three to go Food Train s first ever crowdfunding campaign has gone from strength to strength in it s first week At the time of writing the campaign has raised a staggering 470 of the 1 000 target A massive thank you to everyone who has contributed so far The 1 000 being raised is to be spent on buying new plastic boxes for our volunteers to deliver our customers shopping in The boxes we use are a vital part of our service and take a bit of a battering so new boxes are always needed If you d like to contribute to the campaign please visit the Indiegogo page at http igg me at foodtrainneedsnewboxes A contribution of 5 will help us to buy one brand new box so please contribute what you can If you re not able to contribute please consider sharing the Indiegogo page with friends family and colleagues This is the video we made to accompany the campaign https www youtube com watch v GTRf5IToKQc Tweet 28th Jul 2014 Food Train Friends featured for Befriending Week In preperation for Befriending Week 2014 the Befrienders Network recently got in touch with Food Train Friends They were looking to speak to a befriender and befriendee about their experiences Betty one of our befriendees and Colin a befriender spoke about their involvement with Food Train Friends and befriending Betty had this to say I find it very very helpful I don t think I could do without it to be honest They re very kind You can read what else Betty and Colin had to say on the Befriending Network webpage http befriendingweek org test older people the food train Tweet 28th Jul 2014 No biscuit week at Food Train Food Train proudly holds a Silver Healthy Working Lives award as an organisation As part of this commitment to promoting
