    2014 Unlucky on the night Food Train Dumfries and Galloway was at the D G Chambers of Commerce Business Awards last night We d been nominated in the Outstanding Social Enterprise category but alas we werem t successful on the night and it went to the very well deserving Loch Arthur Creamery and Farm Shop Our thanks go to the chambers for nominating us it s a testament to our volunteers that we re being recognised Tweet 26th Mar 2014 Successful fundraising in Dumfries Morrisons Volunteers and Staff from Food Train Dumfries and Galloway spent a succesful morning fundraising in Morrisons Dumfries a couple of weeks ago A small stall was set up with leaflets and collection tins meaning people could stop and have a chat about Food Train and the services we provide In total 208 was raised which is a fantastic sum considering we were just in for a few hours Our thanks to Morrisons for letting us setting up our stall Tweet 26th Mar 2014 First outing for new Food Train Friends mini bus In October 2013 Food Train Dumfries and Galloway was extremely proud to be awarded 590 474 by Big Lottery Scotland to help tackle social isolation throughout Dumfries and Galloway Our Food Train Friends service started off in Annandale and Eskdale before expanding through to Dumfries The funding from Big Lottery means we have been able to hire two new staff members and also buy our very first mini bus Featuring panoramic windows and enough room for 17 Food Train Friends customers our new mini bus is a great addition to our service Yesterday Tuesday 25th of March was the first outing in the new mini bus A group of Annandale and Eskdale customers visited Castle Douglas Garden Centre to have a look round and also enjoy some coffee and cake This was the first of what will be many visits in the future If you d like to find out more about our befriending service for older people in Dumfries and Galloway please get in touch on 01387 27911 Tweet 17th Mar 2014 Food Train D G shortlisted for Business Award Food Train Dumfries and Galloway is delighted to announce that we have been short listed for a Dumfries and Galloway Chambers of Commerce Business Award in the Outstanding Social Enterprise Category We are up against four other brilliant organisations and the winner will be announced at a glittering black tie awards ceremony on the 27th March in the Easterbrook Hall This nomination is a testament to our hard working volunteers without whom Food Train s work wouldn t be possible We d like to take this opportunity to thank them once again for everything they do to help the older people of Dumfries and Galloway get food access Fingers crossed we win Tweet 13th Mar 2014 New partnership with Tesco for Stewartry Food Train Dumfries and Galloway is delighted to announce that we have entered into partnership with Tesco in Castle Douglas
