quite a lot The first half of the film in particular stands out I found it atmospheric and interesting Considering it s another bloody origin movie that s not a bad achievement at all The second half however is all over the place It almost felt as if part way through everyone suddenly remembered that this is a superhero film and so everything was thrown at the screen The finale isn t particularly memorable and is more of a prelude to THE AVENGERS than perhaps our hero deserved With THE AVENGERS in mind there are a few interesting nods to the greater Marvel universe and they all work well Flawed but enjoyable However if you re choosing between this and SUPER 8 this weekend pick the latter About Tom Manager at Stratford upon Avon Picturehouse film lover writer View all posts by Tom Leave a comment Cancel reply Your email address will not be published Required fields are marked Name Email Website Comment You may use these HTML tags and attributes a href title abbr title acronym title b blockquote cite cite code del datetime em i q cite s strike strong 2 thoughts on Review Captain America Reply Tim

and introducing him to America As with all road trip films the entertainment and friction is caused by the clash of two very different people and in this case two different cultures Naoto is established as a hard working young man about to inherit a sake factory from his boss He is sincere and honest to the core Played by Gaku Hamada 1 who manages to give his characters an inner strength despite often seeming more fragile than the world around them It is very much this character and performance that form the heart of the film Sebastian is very different He s been brought up in LA He can t really speak Japanese and has moved away from traditional roots He is trying to settle on his identity and is angry with anyone trying to fit him into a box He runs a video blog and is much more media savvy than his cousin Sebastian is the wise cracking smart talking one in this comedy duo He is played by Eugene Kim who has a history of stand up and comedy which is clearly an important side to the character and provides an important counterpoint to Naoto Without giving too much away the story starts strong but does seem to lose its drive about half way through This is of course standard for this genre of film but that isn t an excuse Having said that though SAKE BOMB does remain entertaining throughout and is at no point boring The cultural differences are not explored in great depth and there is a reliance on stereotypes to an extent which is a shame It is however a comedy film and not an in depth doc so perhaps that is to be expected SAKE BOMB is a fairly breezy comedy which
