  • So you got a creative brief, now what - Active Webdezign
Estimated reading time 1 minute 24 seconds The creative brief has been sent we know it can seem a bit daunting with some of the questions but this process should be fun and if you do it correctly it really will be We promise We keep asking about websites you like branding competitors and a common mistake among our clients is that they think they can only get inspiration from their competitors and websites in their own sector WRONG don t limit yourself to what your competitors are doing we are not trying to be them we are trying to beat them We would rather have you thinking to far outside the box so far outside we have to tell you to calm down albeit in a polite manner The more input you can give us on what you like the greater the chance we have of designing a website you will like we know the boring bits on how to make people convert where to put the search etc A few website galleries Best web gallery UK based gallery Linkcreme Favourite Websites Award Requires flash the FWA Another good website to look at is patterntap now we are getting down to the nitty gritty Picking the smallest or biggest elements of a design and commenting on it How about some navigations features headlines or why not browse the different categories yourself Have a look at some javascript image ideas Webdesigner wall You know what there are so many more out there i could spend all day listing them Why not google css gallery and start getting inspired I hope to see a creative brief with plenty of links to styles ideas colours quotes imagery fabrics and toothpaste you like Design Twitter Facebook Google Reddit Digg Email Leave a Reply

  • Domain Privacy Protection - Active Webdezign
2009 by Mike Estimated reading time 1 minute 20 seconds Some people who own a domain name may already be aware that their personal details are openly available via the who is database of domain registrants e g www whois search com This is quite a worrying thought as details such as names addresses and emails are published and openly available for anyone to access Is there no such things as Domain Privacy Protection The law does require that these details are submitted on registration of any domain but there is a way that you can limit who can see this Whilst searching myself for a registrant of a certain domain I stumbled across a listing which only had details of an organisation which runs a FREE service whereby they can hide you domain s who is information Therefore anyone that looks your domain ownership up is directed to the organisations website where you can request or contact the anonymous domain owner directly via a contact form It is then up to you directly or the organisation who would be obliged to hand out the information if proof of spam or other Internet miss use is submitted to them to answer the enquiry I will be sending this article out to all our clients with further information on how to sign up for this free service in our next quarterly news letter There will also be a follow up to this article on our website with further information If you would like to be kept updated please contact support webdezign co uk requesting further info and we will keep you posted You can also visit privacyprotect org to find out more Development Twitter Facebook Google Reddit Digg Email Leave a Reply Cancel Reply Your email address will not be published

  • Webdezign launches website 2.0.1 - Active Webdezign
is imperative that your website is kept up to scratch just like you would service or upgrade to a new motor car Ther is an interesting website that can look back in time and show you old version copies of any website which can be quite fun You can visit the Way Back Machine and see any previous version of a website from the past at www archive org Although our last website was put up over two years ago and we should practice what we preach we have vowed that we will begin work on our next website over the coming weeks Since we also felt that we may have focused a little too much on the structure optimisation and content of the new website since this has become very important for search engine performance we may have traded this off for some of the design It seems that one can become blinkered when working on your own project without benefiting from a focus group or clients in our case reviewing and and feeding input from an outsiders view We do wish all our existing clients as well as any prospective clients a very productive and positive outcome to 2009 in a time that we are being told there is a bleak forecast ahead When the credit crunch gets crunching the credit crunched get going And don t believe all that you hear in the media it s put there to try and alter our minds Hear at Webdezign we have only seen companies around us prosper in the past year and the forthcoming year has no indications of this changing If you have any comments we would ask you to be as honest and direct as you wish by leaving your feedback below News Twitter Facebook Google Reddit

  • if i am not number one in Google
not driven aggressively to us Will that happen if we are number 8 What if we are even lower or on the following pages What is your strategy for helping your clients be found with even loosely related searches or to get around the problems you describe in your article I am not saying you re wrong I just want to understand how you can help achieve the goals we seek to by trying to be no 1 on Google without being no 1 on google I do not have a web site at present I am looking for a company to design and build one for me and was drawn to your article because I have often wondered how I would score a prime position in a search if not necessarily no 1 My marketing budget is limited and to begin with at least my business would be wholly online I note that a lot of the work you have done has been for established businesses and recognisable names and I imagine people would search for them based on knowledge of them their product location or some other element they can build a search around but if they are not aware or do not know for sure that the product or service even exists or where it is based how can you increase the chances many people in my target market will alight on my website Is this part of what you do at all or do you expect that there will be some stand alone marketing function that should be operating in tandem Looking forward to hearing from you Tobi The above got me thinking about how our own business managed to get off the ground when the web was in its infancy over 10 years ago Back in those days we were more reliant on traditional forms of marketing such as leaflets yellow pages listings advertising in the local papers breakfast networking groups and good signage on the shop front of our studio premises But most of all our business managed to gain strength through recommendations and satisfied returning clients Recommendations and returning clients is still our number one source of new business So my answer to Tobi would be never to rely on just the web for new business since getting to the top of Google for keywords or phrases relative to your business is not an easy quick or cheap task From my experience a good marketing strategy is one that is balanced Traditional marketing methods should be used in conjunction with new opportunities using social media networks for optimisation and link building Be realistic about the goals you re are aiming for and give yourself enough time to see through your venture monitoring every rise and fall that may be linked to certain marketing exercises And Tobi don t be disappointed to find that you don t make it to the number one spot in Google and perhaps only in the eighth place It
