    set your rent Getting help with my rent payments Welfare Rights Team Service charges What Happens When You Have Rent Arrears Help With Paying Your Rent If you are on a low income you may be entitled to Housing Benefit to cover all or part of your rent You do not need to be receiving other benefits to qualify If you receive Income Support or Job Seekers Allowance you will be entitled to receive Housing Benefit If you are working or on any other benefit if Housing Benefit is paid it is likely not to cover your full rent This means that you will have to pay something towards your rent How Do I Claim You need to complete and send in a Housing Benefit application form to your Council These forms are complicated and our staff can help check your Housing Benefit form and verify any relevant documentation if necessary We will then pass this on to the Council What Documents Do I Need to Show the Council You will need to provide proof of income to the Council i e your 3 most recent payslips or if you are not working confirmation of what benefits you are receiving

    their identity card and works order to ensure they are genuine If you are not sure ask them to stay outside and phone the Customer Services Team Reporting a Repair When the Office is Closed Reporting emergency repairs is easier now If you need an emergency repair done when our offices are closed you should phone 0844 892 0321 Arrangements will be made for a contractor to visit We have improved how we deal with emergency telephone calls from tenants when our offices are closed The majority of calls received when our offices are closed relate to emergency repairs We have now transferred the call management of emergency repairs to our partners in Gentoo Sunderland As part of the Gentoo Group the Contact Centre has the same computer system as the Association which makes ordering repairs easier and hopefully provides a better emergency response service for our tenants In addition by changing to Gentoo for our Out of Hours Service we have made cost efficiencies which provide us with greater Value for Money For our tenants these changes also mean that when calling our 0844 892 0321 number when our offices are closed the call will transfer to Gentoo at no additional cost to you This is an improvement on our previous system as one call gets you through to the team that can raise your repair order for emergency repairs If your phone provider charges an additional charge for using a 0844 number you may choose to use our 0141 558 6336 which is charged at the standard charge rate and will also transfer to Gentoo Sunderland at no extra charge The type of repairs we will do outside office hours are Burst pipes badly leaking pipes causing flooding Choked toilet if only toilet in house No hot or

    the repairs below you must not use the online service always use the telephone No heating during winter or cold periods Smell of gas call 0800 111 999 Major escape of water Fire damage Substantial water ingress Alarms which ring constantly and can t be switched off or disconnected A property which is insecure broken windows forced doors etc Lost or broken keys Unsafe electrical circuit or socket or switch which can not be switched off and isolated Loss or partial loss of power Blocked toilets wastes etc where there is no alternative Blocked drains Running overflows over paths if weather is likely to be frosty over night If you are satisfied that the repair you are reporting is not emergency repair then please use the online form We will call and let you know that we are dealing with your request We are only able to deal with e mail requests during office hours Monday Friday 9am 5pm and not during a public holiday If you have not received a response within 4 hours or before the office closes that we have received the repair then please call us to report it again Report A Repair Form To report
