    Practices We operate business practices that recognise our responsibility to society and to the local communities adjacent to our operations We respect Human Rights in every part of our business in accordance with the Wienerberger Social charter These business practices include our dealings with partners throughout the supply chain including suppliers contractors and customers We operate Environmental Management Systems to minimise the impacts of our operations on the environment and neighbouring communities and ensure that all operations have full regard to biodiversity and habitat creation We take a responsible approach to charitable donations under the Wienerberger Group Policy We work closely with a number of Trade Associations and environmental focus groups with respect to optimising the sustainable performance of our products both in manufacture and application All our UK manufactured products are certified to BES 6001 the standard for responsible sourcing of construction products We were the first clay product manufacturer in the UK to achieve this standard This certification confirms our professional relationships with partner organisations throughout the supply chain and the responsible nature of our business practices Keith Barker Commercial Director Wienerberger Ltd We share these practices with our various partner organisations including Wienerberger Our Sustainability Partners Visit

    roof tile factories together with the extraction of raw materials from adjacent quarries has the potential to cause adverse environmental impacts These can include emissions to air water and land together with use of raw materials energy and water Issues can arise due to creation of noise or dust or the impacts of transport activities The establishment of a formalised Environmental Management System meeting the requirements of ISO 14001 means that all these aspects are managed in a professional way based on compliance with all prevailing legislation and the elimination of pollution combined with a policy of continual improvement in environmental performance All manufacturing sites operate under an Environmental Permit granted by the relevant Local Authority Environmental Health Department and are subject to periodic inspections Wienerberger Considering the local community in out practices What does this certification mean All UK manufactured products are produced in accordance with an Environmental Management System independently certified to ISO 14001 All sites are visited periodically by our external environmental auditors CICS Ltd who systematically check all aspects of the documented Environmental Management System and their implementation Specifically they confirm compliance with all relevant Environmental legislation and that we are dealing responsibly with any concerns of local residents They identify opportunities for improvement at the sites and monitor continual improvement in environmental performance Major non compliance with any elements of the Environmental Management System would result in the certification being suspended or cancelled All of our UK operational factories are certified to ISO 14001 the international standard for Environmental Management Systems We are proud that our Denton factory in Manchester was in 1996 the first brickworks in the world to be certified to this standard John Sandford Director for Sustainability Wienerberger Ltd Relevant certificates are available to download for all sites Please see the links

    at Ewhurst and our letter to the residents Warnham opened its doors to the local community Warnham Liaison Committee site visit WEDNESDAY 12TH JUNE 2013 Thirteen members of the Warnham Liaison Committee and invited guests were given a guided tour of the Warnham factory on 12th June to see for themselves how the brick manufacturing process works The party included local resident Brian Johnson former Production Director of Redland Brick Ltd original owners of the Warnham site who recalled when the Warnham factory then called the Holbrook Works was built on the site in the early 1960 s In fact he remarked that the factory will be celebrating its 50th Birthday in September this year something which factory manager Barry Rogers agreed should be celebrated Chair of the Liaison Committee Helen Clarke commented after the visit Just a quick line to say thank you for the tour last evening and for treating the residents to tea biscuits and most importantly a drink at the pub We very much appreciate the hospitality shown to us The feedback from the residents regarding the tour has been overwhelmingly positive The new Liaison Committee has now been running for nearly a year and many of the previous issues and concerns of local residents have disappeared now that we have effective lines of communication in place Barry maintains an open door approach to all local residents and any issues of concern are speedily resolved Wienerberger are enthusiastically involved in the establishment of a new Community Liaison Committee at the Warnham site and general enhancements to Community Liaison at all sites Annette Forster Director of Marketing Wienerberger Ltd Warnham quarry WARNHAM COMMUNITY LIAISON MEETING 9th September 2014 As part of the Warnham Brickworks Community Liaison meeting on 9th September 2014 the members of the Committee were
