    times of financial hardship through serious illness or injury as well as raising funds for the Ray Gravell and Friends Charitable Trust to provide assistance to charities that were close to Ray s heart Ray Gravell was a true Welsh legend who sadly died of a heart attack in October 2007 aged 56 A former Llanelli Wales and British Lions rugby player Grav played during one of the most successful periods in Welsh rugby s history when he became known for his trademark beard and his powerful charges from midfield His fame became even greater after he retired from playing in 1985 and embarked on an acting and broadcasting career which made him one of the best known faces and voices in Wales During the month of February Grow a Grav asks men to grow a beard in the style of late Gravell and support the campaign by donating to the trusts Grav will not only be remembered for his achievements on and off the field but for his very distinguished beard Grav was an inspiration to so many and a passionate Welshman and rugby advocate this is therefore a very fitting campaign supported by the Welsh International rugby players The rules of Grow a Grav are simple All contestants must be clean shaven on the morning of the 1 st February Contestants have the month to grow their beard and style as they wish to form a Grav Those wishing to take part are encouraged to donate via our Just Giving page www justgiving com growagrav2014 or by texting GRAV13 3 to 70070 replacing the 3 with the amount you wish to donate We also have sponsorship forms available and will accept cash cheque donations sent to Grow a Grav c o The Welsh Rugby Players Association 3 Assembly
