    Page They weren t your average rock band there was rock but there was more to it WHEN legendary rock band Led Zeppelin performed a series of five concerts at London s Earls Court Arena 40 years ago they were at the very top of their game Four decades on Boot Led Zeppelin are celebrating those five glorious nights by putting on their most spectacular show to date Earls Court 75 Revisited From the laser pyramid during Dazed and Confused to the flaming gong at the end of Whole Lotta Love Boot Led Zeppelin s new production which will be at Queen s Theatre Hornchurch on Friday January 15 features all the trademarks of a Led Zeppelin show At the heart of Boot Led Zeppelin are four dedicated and talented musicians who perform Led Zeppelin s music to the highest standard by using authentic musical instruments costumes and special effects Combine these with their energy and chemistry on stage and they put on a show that takes their audience on a journey back in time Raff Achour one of the founding members of Boot Led Zeppelin who takes to the stage as Led Zeppelin s guitarist and founder Jimmy Page was introduced to Indian as well as Arabic music from an early age while growing up in Morocco As a teenager he got into rock and roll and Led Zeppelin as he loved the Celtic Indian and Arabic influences in their music They weren t your average rock band there was rock but there was more to it says Raff They had all these influences They were playing world music before that term was invented They built their reputation on their live shows and It s an absolute joy to perform their music In 2001 Raff started to audition musicians

    magic at Cliffs Pavilion Southend this Christmas with their spectacular production of Cinderella Wednesday 16 December 2015 By Liz Wade Brian Conley stars as Buttons in this year s production of Cinderella at the Cliffs Pavilion THIS year s pantomime at the Cliffs Pavilion certainly does not disappoint as it has a great cast and lots of special effects Television musical theatre and pantomime legend Brian Conley delights audiences as Buttons while Birds of a Feather favourite Lesley Joseph shares plenty of magic as the Fairy Godmother Joining them are Lauren Hall as Cinderella as well as David Robbins and Martin Ramsdin as the Ugly Sisters With lots of current songs for the children to sing along to fabulous scenery and even a coach drawn by a Shetland pony to take Cinderella to the ball Cliffs Pavilion has yet again pulled out all the stops for their annual festive treat The Ugly Sisters delighted the young and old alike to plenty of hilarious costume changes that were both big and bold as well as colourful with matching wigs aplenty Even Buttons gets to go to the ball on his flying motorbike and some of The Muppets make a surprise appearance

    s New York society was brought to Basildon as a production of the Great Gatsby was put on at the Towngate Theatre F Scott Fitzgerald s classic book was brought to the stage in style with the clothes the accents and the set bringing the story to life The story is narrated by Nick Carraway played by Adam Jowett He is the neighbour of Jay Gatsby a mysterious figure who throws lavish parties for anyone and everyone at his mansion Jowett engages the audience through a flawless accent He manages to switch between relating to the audience and the other characters thanks in part to a clever use of lighting but mainly due to his storytelling skills All of the cast dealt well with having to play different characters whilst it was refreshing to see how they combined acting singing and playing instruments The performances of Max Roll as Gatsby and Tristan Pate as Tom Buchanan were also strong with both actors pulling off the changes of character emotion especially as the story reaches its conclusion Celia Cruwys Finnigan as Daisy Buchanan was impressive with the quality of her singing as well as in her portrayal of a woman caught
